Hey with Fermin’s and Ronnie’s rear sight inserts taking off like hang busters I was wondering if anyone wants to sell one of thrift Bowen sights? If so, let me know as I may need one to match a pair of guns project. A w/o would be the bees knees if anyone wants to go with the new insert set up since it has so many options to choose from.

box: SINCE BOWEN IS "OUT OF STOCK" ON HIS RS's, AND RUMOR IS HE WON'T BE MAKING ANYMORE, I AM WONDERING IF HE HAS A cache FOR HIS USE ON HIS PACKAGES AND CUSTOMS OR IF THE BOWEN RS's ARE JUST A THING OF THE PAST?

When I looked at their web page a week ago and saw the "Sold Out" message with no link for ordering I was glad I have been ordering spares periodically.
I was going to order one for my cousin who recently bought a SBH he has fallen in love with. Now I have to decide if I am going to break one loose for him out of my drawer or not...

YETIMAN: YOU SHOULD BE REWARDED FOR PLANNING AHEAD AND KEEP YOUR SPARES, AND NOT MAKE YOUR COUSIN's PROBLEM YOUR PROBLEM.TELL THE COUSIN TO BUY 1 OF THE NEW RW 2 DOGS REAR SIGHTS, IT IS A GREAT SIGHT.

All my gunning days I wondered why everyone waits until they need something to buy it. This is especially true of reloading stuff, but applies across the board. I recently read a post where a guy found a revolver he wanted. He decided not to buy it because bulk brass was out of stock. Are you kidding me!!! Kudos for not assuming what you enjoy will always be easy/possible to get...

Shoot, I've bought guns just because I had brass to fit them.

Got it. I recently bought a BFR that appears to be pretty well made and fairly inexpensive thought it a touch taller than my Bowen's. shopkahrfirearmsgroup.com/sights/magnum-research-bfr-factory-rear-sight-bfr1019as.asp

I recently bought a BFR that appears to be pretty well made and fairly inexpensive thought it a touch taller than my Bowen's. shopkahrfirearmsgroup.com/sights/magnum-research-bfr-factory-rear-sight-bfr1019as.aspI AM USING SEVERAL OF THE BFR LPA RS's ON RUGERS, EXCELLENT RS BLADE BUT THERE ARE SOME ISSUES TO BE AWARE OF: 1) THE SPRINGS PLACEMENT IS DIFFERENT THAN ON A RUGER AND THERE ARE NO LITTLE DIMPLES IN THE FRAME FOR THE SPRINGS TO ALIGN IN/SET IN; 2) WITH A BIG CUSTOM CYLINDER THE ELEVATION SCREW CAN GO FAR ENUFF DOWN INTO THE FRAME WINDOW TO TOUCH THE CYLINDER AND BIND IT UP AND WILL REQUIRE THE PROTRUDING SCREW TO BE FILED DOWN; 3) THE RS DOES SEEM TO START OUT HIGHER AND MOST OF THE ONES I HAVE USED ON RUGERS ARE SCEWED ALL THE WAY, OR ALMOST ALL THE WAY, DOWN; 4) BECAUSE OF THE SPRINGS PLACEMENT IF YOU RAISE THE SIGHT TOO MUCH IT WILL BE TOO SPONGY (ON A TALL FS RUGER I HAD TO PUT A PLASTIC INSERT UNDER THE ASSEMBLY AND IF I CHANGE LOADS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO JUST "DIAL IN"); 5) IT STICKS OUT FURTHER TO THE BACK; and 6) IT IS SAID THAT THEY MAY NOT FIT AS SNUGLY AS A RUGER ASSEMBLY. I WAS USING THE LPA's, NOT BECAUSE OF THE PRICE, BUT BECAUSE OF THE UNAVAILABILITY OF THE BOWEN RS's. ON THE 2 BRAD SHERMAN NIMROD's I HAVE I AM LEAVING THEM ON THERE AS THEY ARE DIALED IN (SCREWED ALL THE WAY DOWN OR ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN), SAME THING WITH THE TALL FS BISLEY WITH THE LPA THAT I PUT A PLASTIC INSERT UNDER AS IT IS SCREWED DOWN TIGHT AND DIALED IN. I HAVE 2 BOWEN TARGET RS's IN INVENTORY NOW, PLUS HAVE THE OPTION OF THE NEW RW 2 DOGS RS, AND AM NOT PLANNING TO ADD THE BFR LPA RS's TO ANY MORE REVOLVERS.

From the parts page of Mr. Bowen's site: parts.bowenclassicarms.com/FEBRUARY 1, 2023 - AT THIS TIME WE HAVE A NUMBER OF PRODUCTS BOTH LOW IN INVENTORY AND OUT OF STOCK. FOR THE TIME BEING WE WILL ONLY BE TAKING ORDERS VIA PHONE SO WE CAN ADVISE OF INVENTORY STATUS OR POSSIBLE DELAYS. EVERYTHING ON THE WEBSITE IS SUBSEQUENTLY MARKED OUT OF STOCK. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE. FOR PARTS ORDERING PLEASE GIVE US A CALL AT 865-981-8869. So not everything marked "out of stock" is actually gone. I just got a Redhawk extended firing pin from them. Maybe give them a call, and see what they can do.

I called a few weeks ago and talked to Jeremy and he found a flat top rear sight for me.

I have used the lpa sight a few times on Rugers. It has a superior sight picture but leaves a lot to be desired.
However I would not order one of the current ones now. There's a change for the MUCH better in the works now. I can't wait to get my hands on it. The LPA cheapie is all over the place with 500 Linebaugh +p. The Bushwhacker killed it quickly (8 rounds). The 500S&W also killed one in just 27 shots!
But the ones on my 357,45, and 32H&R are holding up so far

WAYNE: WHEN THE LPA BREAKS WHAT IS IT THAT "goes"?

WAYNE: WHEN THE LPA BREAKS WHAT IS IT THAT "goes"? Usually one of the adjusting screws. Most of them have been the horizontal one, but two times it was the vertical. Also they are not a high grade aluminum. If it is a heavy recoiling big bore, they bounced on the springs, hammering themselves to death.
