This big boy was at the trailhead for the Bob in Augusta, MT 2 weeks ago. Keep that 44 handy , looks very good by the way. Got these pics from Bob Denning over on Reeders forum, he is up in your neck of the woods somewhere. Heck of a good guy, but kinda special.

Augusta is about 2 1/2 hours from me. That's one of the trailheads I was hoping to use to get into the Bob to see the Chinese Wall. Might need to find another way in. I have seen those pictures before and knew it was near the Bob, just didn't know it was Augusta. That thing is HUGE!! Has there been any guesses on it's weight and how tall it actually is?

I would love to know what that big boy weighed. My boss man was out at his place out there when that big boy came through. His place is in Choteau, he goes down to Augusta to that trailhead alot. He gets grizzlies on his security cameras all the time.

I've seen those 3 pics recently. I thought they might be photo-shopped. Hard to tell. Anyone have an idea of the wall height on that outbuilding?

Will ask my boss tomorrow at work, he's been up to the trail head several times when he's out to Mt. I thought it was photo shopped till I got a hold of Bob.

Same thing here with the bear. I was thinking it was either a really huge bear or a really small building.

I will say it...I'm Jealous! Looks like Idaho or Montana. Northwest Montana Nice. We almost bought a place outside Thompson Falls but settled on a place 15 miles NE of Sandpoint. This was in 2005. Just yesterday we were in Libby chasing estate sales. Pretty country up this way.

Great pictures. I know why you moved there/here. I'm in process of doing the same (south of Livingston). Congratulations.

I saw your post about the trip into the mountains. Great pictures and looks like you all had a great time. Not sure if I have been here long enough to say it, but Welcome to Montana! I like your quote: "I am one of the people moving to Montana that doesn't want it to change in fact I want it to go backwards. Most of the books that I read for fun are about settlers, trappers, ranchers, indians, bears and what it was like 50-200 years ago. But I want my cake and to eat it too....go back in time but have the more modern firearms (Pre 64 Winchester, Ruger revolvers, etc)"

Mine is the blue roan, hers is the buckskin. The picture of hers is from last June. He's going to be a big boy. And we hatched a deal around the campfire for this mule. He's been there and done that and is starting to slow down for hard guiding work. He'll be a good companion for the colts and still has enough to do light backcountry trips for what we'll do. Until they are ready we'll be riding the ranch horses. We have our favorites at the ranch. Mine is an appaloosa that some can't stand but I like him. I rarely have to get him moving. Just point and shoot (and control him when he wants to go and shouldn't be).

My old girlfriend's parents lived in Whitefish, and we went around to Flathead lake, Glacier National Park, etc, etc. I loved it there. Looked for work so I could stay...

If you are going into the Bob I suggest a more potent firearm. a very nice area.
