I had a 10” octagon Contender barrel. It was a very loud flamethrower with factory ammo. I would love to have a #3 and rebarrel it to .25-35

Ronnie, Thanks...
I saw several alterations that I didn't care for. So, I decided to do my own.
Most cut the stock off where it steps down to accommodate the barrel band. But, that leaves the forearm too short.
I cut this one at the front of the barrel band. This gives almost 1/2" extra length. The step is removed when the tip is rounded anyways.
The initial work was done with a belt sander. Then finished with sanding blocks from Harbor Freight...

I've posted pics of this before, but it came to me as a 22 Hornet rechambered to 223 which never shot well with the Hornet Twist. JES made it a very nice shooting 357 Max. The prior owner ground off the front sight base, removed the barrel band, reshaped the forend, and installed a screw in the forend hangar as an accurizing measure. I think they did a pretty good job making the forend look decent. Wish I could combine the weight and slim profile of a Low Wall with the No 3 mechanism, because the ejector and tang safety really are nice for hunting but the No 3 is a little bit of a porker. Ruger rings, especially extended ones, are hefty.

I call this my Ruger 3/1. #3 action, #1 stock, #3 custom bbl., and a beaver tail fore end. .22 RF tight chamber. Haven't shot it yet (I know, I know). I have an old Weaver 20X scope that I'm going to mount. It was originally going to be chambered for .25-35, then .25-20, and finally decided on .22 RF. Gun case lining does not make a good BG.
