I like the Idea of a .41 Special ! I don't have time left or money to ever likely get around to building one, But if I do , I would ask for the Calber to be marked .41 Bowen Special ! ...tj

If you're not hung up on Ruger's lockwork being a necessity, go Colt.. dovetail a nice front on for sight adjustment and call it done. My favourite all around #1 is just that. Single action Colt, match-barrel with an old Winchester style brass-tipped blade up front, bisley spurred hammer and a Bowen screw belt mountain base pin for recoil security ... gun carries like it isn't even there. Love it.
Colt is significantly more nimble in the hand than any mid-frame ruger I've ever had too.
Best load in mine is a 255gr WFN over unique, 990fps. If there was ever a factory sammi load to come to fruition, 230-250grains of lead right about 1000fps should be it. It's amazing that none like that have been commercially offered.. it's a marketing masterpiece sitting in the shadows just waiting to happen far as I'm concerned.

What about using an uberti would it work? Now I’m intrigued to say the least

Guarantee you a Uberti would make a fine one. Especially if you could find a Flattop Target or Adjustable Sights Model. Cylinders for 32-20 and 357 Mag could be easily rechambered...

Sorry can’t remember who did the 41 Special model 28. Robb’s Model 28 in 41 Special. Also built by Andy Horvath. Tim

Thanks everyone but I already have a USFA Shooting Master with a 5.5" barrel and Uberti Cattleman with a 4.75" barrel in .41 Special...and yes the Uberti has a dovetailed in front blade.
Almost did this project a couple of years ago with a Colt New Frontier .357 I picked up for cheap money...ended up selling the gun and later doing the Uberti instead.
Just happen to like the looks of the mid-frame Flat Top...had one of the large frame Flat Tops in .41 Magnum but that went down the road also...

Now I’m intrigued to say the least No reason at all the Uberti wouldn't work, they're a faint bit bigger than a true Colt, but by such a small difference it's a moot point anyway. Uberti would do just fine.
