I was looking for some loading data and recently went back and reviewed quite a few posts in Reloading and Wildcats many pages. Curious, I did the same thing in The Gallery and Gunsmithing. So here it is:
What is your vote for Best Post/Thread ever?

On this forum, I can't think of just one post.
However,, I can say that most of the "educational" posts by David Bradshaw rank at the top of excellent reading. From how to tinker on guns, to how to shoot, to loading etc. David's information is invaluable to those seeking knowledge.

So many good ones to choose from, but right off the top of my head, I would nominate Lee Martin's 5 Shot Revolver Build thread/discussion. It's not often we get to see how our favorite sausages are made, especially in so much graphic detail. That thread really helps folks who like custom guns (but don't realize how much skill and experience is required for a really good build) to realize why they cost so much and take so long. They are the result of extraordinary skill, deliberation and craftsmanship and a real eye for detail, elegance and proportion. Even IF I had all the tools and machines necessary, I simply don't have the learning and skills necessary to bring a sixgun from ordinary to amazing. It's wonderful to watch someone who can! singleactions.proboards.com/thread/18991/5-shot-build-documented

No way I could even come close to picking a favorite thread.
Evenly split on my favorite subjects.
I'd go 50% on guys who have worked to get a gun they've wanted and are rightfully proud of their efforts. Whether it's a Heritage or Freedom Arms is irrelevant. The remaining 50% would be the "do it yourself" types. Those who tackle the projects head on and never look back. Adding a cylinder, building grips, etc.
This is where most, if not all, of us started. It's better to remember where we started than boast of where we are...

My favorites were the back and forth jabs by Sixshot and Callshot. They were witty, good humored and obviously made between dear friends. I can't pick one thread in particular, but their banter throughout many threads was priceless.

I just got a text from sixshot, who I didn’t think was awake yet! He mentioned that there was something on the forum that was of concern to us. I was just waking up from my mid morning nap myself and looked it up. Since it is only 20 degrees and foggy outside it took me some time to find something to read here. When I determined that Fermin, 2 dogs, had posted something about us it surprised me because Fermin had told me years ago that my 15 minutes of fame had run out a long time ago. Just for the record Dick, sixshot, and I have never posted anything on any forum that wasn’t the absolute truth? Dick is always bloodying my nose and steeling my ammo so I was surprised to see that he hadn’t posted any jabs on here yet. I shouldn’t let anything out of the bag because you forum members are all the friends that I have now. I still cast some and powder coat them and will someday have them ready for Dick to steel. I’d like to shoot some of them with Fermin but he would not survive in this Idaho weather so we will just give him something to read here. To all of you reading this, have a great day unless you have made other plans. Steve aka Callshot.

Dang you, Fermin, for asking this question! Now I'm trying to think back on all the amazing discussions and leaning I've been privileged to read over the years.
Other favorites of mine would include David Bradshaw's Photo & Story threads about his significant role in the testing, evaluation, feedback and input of new Ruger revolvers at the request of Bill Ruger himself. Those were extremely satisfying to read. The development of Ruger Bisley 03 and the .357 Maximum are just priceless additions to the sixgun history and make for great reading.
Next nod would go to Dick Thompson for his outstanding hunting stories and photos. I don't know whether he's better at shooting or narrating a story, but from my perspective, I would challenge him at neither.
Finally, the many, many stories by John Taffin of time spent with other legendary sixgunners of the past (and present). Like David Bradshaw's and Dick Thompson's threads, there are just too many to choose from.

My vote is for Bradshaw's photo essays. They're a wonderful combination of technical input and shooting history. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Not sure I could pick one person or subject because this is such a unique forum just as it is. I agree that Lee Martin's detailed builds on rifles & revolvers are simply amazing & no one can match David Bradshaw's experience behind a six gun, or his ability to walk us through the how's & how not's to make them sing like Sinatra. Being almost next door to Bill Ruger & having so much imput on some of the Ruger guns is pretty rare air for most of us. But we also have to contend with the likes of guys who have spent a life time chasing custom guns from the best pistol smiths in the world. Guys like Greg, Huey, Kings6, etc who started years ago & are still in the chase. Many other six gunners like John Taffin, Fermin, Glenn Swaggart, Hoover, Barranti, Ken O'Neill, Russ Cottle, Tyrone, Mark Hampton, James From Jersey, Kim Ralston & so many others I can't recall right now that take this forum far beyond any others out there. And yet everyone gets along, shares ideas & makes this the #1 place to be day after day. I would like to host another gathering next year, I can still reserve that lodge we had last time but I would have to get it fairly soon, perhaps by Feb-March. It's very private, has 3 bedrooms up & 3 more down with a large kitchen & large living room/dining area with all cooking, eating equipment furnished. You would need to furnish your own food & drink. This spot is located outside of town about 4 miles in a beautiful setting with a huge lawn, BBQ grill, chairs, etc. 3-4 restrooms, etc. A couple of bedrooms have 2 beds each. It's about 10 minutes back to a public shooting range that's free, has rifle shooting out to 300 yds, a rimfire range, a bigbore silhouette range & 7 pistol bays, all free & covered except for the pistol bays. Plus, depending on what time we would decide on, there would be ground squirrel shooting, rock chuck shooting, some badgers, shooting in the river canyon & some long distance steel shooting. Something like 300-600 yd steel shooting, all you want. Just give me an idea if this is something some of you might be interested in. The first breakfast is free, compliments of SIXSHOT! Biscuits & gravy & Idaho hashbrowns!

I knew when I posted earlier,, that it was a very tough subject to approach.
I chose the educational aspect,, because like mentioned above,, it's true rich history, and timeless.
Yet,, I cherish all the posts by sixshot, callshot, with their banter. I was honored & blessed to having been able to visit them in their playground. And like many others,, the "Tales from Soda" as I like to call them,, are the true HANDGUN HUNTER stories I dearly love.
Along with John Taffin,, and his decades of wisdom, go hand in hand with our passion of handgunning.
So many threads,, and no way to truly pick just one.
Dick,, sign me up for a Gathering next year. I'd love to make it again!

For me, Hoovers work up of 480 data for the BSBH he didn't even have in hand yet ! I miss him not being here now. Figure he does sneek in, tip toe around a bit. Admit I'm invested into that long thread because 2 of the BSBH 480's came to roost here.

Lots of great posts and posters so cant pick just one; but... If I remember correctly, i think the one that pulled me to this forum via a Google search was Paul105's info on the S&W 69. I suspect his info has directly resulted in several others buying the 69 too.
