How does it compare to garrison?

It is simply like the recent Colt 1911s. Better than they were when they got bad, but don't hold a candle to a current Springfield or DW..

Ramped barrel? I have had one for about 5 yrs. now. Was still Colt then, but was also typical Colt frame/slide fit. Barrel fit is ok. The gun wants to shoot. Colt barrels have always been pretty good in my opinion.

Barrel not ramped. I don't look for one in steel frame 1911s. Don't need it. Aluminum alloy frame 1911s need the ramped barrel.

Bought one of the TALO limited edition Commanders in .38 Super a good 10 years ago..runs Super, 9mm and 9x23 Winchester with 100% reliability. Just got done shooting it in an IDPA shoot two hours ago... Looks just like this gun but has a Nickel Teflon finish on the aluminum lower and black Ceracoat slide. Couldn't be happier with the gun...
Also have a DA Guardian in .38 Super with an extra 9mm barrel. They are under-priced for what you get. Shot it last month in the IDPA shoot and there was no difference in scores...they are every way an equal of a LB...
Have got five aluminum frame Colt Commanders and have had several more...no ramps and never had a wear issue. One 1952 that I carried daily for 27 years has 7K+ rounds through it...it shot mostly HPs. Easy way to eliminate wear from an aluminum framed gun is to have the frame hard chrome plated. Three of my 5 are HC plated, the TALO Nickel Teflon and the one that has 7K through is box stock anodized.
According to Chuck Taylor, Colt Commander "Coltalloy" frames were an alloy of aluminum and titanium...which was a new metal developed just after WWII.
Never a problem with any of mine...
As to the fit/finish of Colt made guns...one gets what one pays for...

Get what you pay for? Holding a Springfield that was literally $400 cheaper than the Colt. The Colt would easily need $1000 in parts and work to get to anywhere close to where the Springfield is.

Is that a Commander or a CCO? Looks like it has as many sharp edges as a cheese grater.

Sad to see that nothing seems to have changed (for the positive) at Colt. I saw some pix of a new Colt Anaconda on another forum. The bore looks like a staircase, with clearly delineated steps. The owner said that it leads, too. No surprise there.
