Formed from 458 Hamr, and you're right it's the reasonably priced option. The owner of the company posted here some time back about the forming process, which is pretty cool since it requires making the belt.

I really enjoyed the video. It was spot on regarding handguns of this size, minus all the hype. I looked at TII Armory's site and the conversions are reasonably priced. In fact, so are the dies and brass. And I must admit, while I normally don't use brakes, a conversion like this is the exception. I chose not to put one on the .50 Alaskan BFR we converted. 525's at 1,650 fps and 585's just over 1,500 fps are my limit. Anything more and the end of the barrel would get threaded. I haven't leaned on the Alaskan any more, keeping pressure around 40,000 PSI (software estimated). The smaller diameter S&W case affords more pressure ceiling, hence the .500 Bushwhacker's big numbers. I think the Alaskan can get close, but not quite touch those figures. So in short, this wildcat enters new territory. I'm impressed. My .50 Alaskan with a Jack Huntington grip frame. Similar to the new BFR 'Bisley', it does a lot to help control recoil. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time" Thank you for the kind words, Lee. Your article on your .50 Alaskan build sparked our interest in this sort of thing a number of years ago. We read it shortly after it was published, and I've often come back to it since.

A conversion to that beast for a couple days pay? It's got to happen.
Now to find a 500SW to convert. The Missus already thinks I'm nuts.

Hey, I know those guys! 😉 Really enjoyed your articles, very well thought out and purposeful. I know this might be a silly question for a “stopping piece” but would love to see some accuracy and pressure figures (probably more of a test for the shooter 😀) Nice work! Thank you sir, I'm glad you enjoyed the read. We haven't commissioned any pressure testing as of yet, though I plan to do so in the future. Michael McCourry published extensive pressure data with a rather similar rifle round (his .50 B&M), so that was a useful reference during early load development. QuickLoad also came in handy, though it's never wise to treat software like a load manual. Incremental increases and careful observation are the main thing. Of course, overpressure rounds in something like this wouldn't be very rewarding to the shooter. The guns have their way of disincentivizing you from going too far. We'll explore the accuracy side of things more soon. As you say, accuracy at this level is more reflective of the workman than his tools, but I've been quite impressed by what we've seen so far. Attached is an offhand three round group shot by my brother at 25 yards with his 7.5" .500 BW. I know it's a bit of a stone's throw for a handgun of this type, but I was impressed.

The bigger the guns, the smaller the world, I suppose! I consider myself greatly indebted to them and their work.

All the credit for being steady enough to get a really great group knowing what is coming every trigger pull.

I was shocked and pleased at the cost for these conversions. But, it's still too much gun for me.
For someone wanting a cannon, it's a good deal as long as cases remain available.
If I were to contemplate it, I'd buy a lifetime supply of cases to avoid the 500 Wyoming Express situation...

Would make a dual cylinder gun feasible...
