I have a Trax that looks like my Ram. Fun driving the dogs nuts with it.

I have three off road electric motor trucks that I used to run regularly but only for fun. In the years since I built them I've let the batteries kill my radios. But since I retired I'd like to upgrade them and have them throwing dirt everywhere again. Nice topic for a new thread. Thanks!! What do you mean you let your batteries kill your radios? I dont quite understand what this means. Ive always had an interest in RC cars/trucks but never explored it by buying one. This thread has peaked my interested again. A car for Christmas may be in order for my and I to mess with. That means I forgot to pull my alkaline batteries out of my control radios and they corroded the units beyond repair. If I ever get back to running mine I have a lot of upgrades I want to do to them.

Told ya... big rabbit hole...So... I've been slowly building my generic RC car, for dirt circle track racing at the neighbors track... started out I wanted to switch to a more personal body shell, instead of the generic racing truck style that came on the car... I looked for a 1st generation El Camino like my 1960 El Camino... nothing made... 2nd, I was able to find a Holden body, that actually came from Austrialia, that matches my 2016 Chevy SS Sedan ( also built in Austrailia )... so that's the route I went... when everything is measured out, trimmed, & smoothed, it'll be painted blue to match my "real" car... under the plastic, a few aluminum goodies have found thier way in... adjustable upper control arms allow me to adjust the camber on the front wheels for the circle track... aluminum body mounts / upper shock mounts have been added... new blue aluminum front bumper on it's way here... back will have a rubber block afixed to the motor, to fill the gap between the motor & back of the molded body... expecting some bashing on the track & being a tire guy, a set of actual Hoosier tires, on special sized bead lock wheels... ( note in the picture above, that the inside sidewalls are really short, & in this picture the outside sidewalls are "normal" height, so they take special wheels... I had bought some really nice aluminum double bead lock mag style wheels, but they did not fit... these Hoosiers gave me an education in RC wheels... I'll likely buy a set of street drifting tires, to mount on the aluminum mag wheels, so they don't go to waste so far, it's been like building a model... it's not seen the dirt yet... I buy a new part every couple weeks, when I get paid... I'm still running a brushed motor but have picked up a few high performance batteries & a charger for them... so when I get done "model building" it should be ready for the dirt track...

Next thing to tackle is a new set of shocks, so I can just switch them out... the new set, will have lowering shims added to in the inside of the shocks, to drop the ride height for the circle track racing, & I'll expiriment with some of the thicker viscosity shock oils... I'll have the original set of shocks ( unlowered ) in case any tracks that incorporate jumps or mogals, I can tune those as needed..
