I’d trade 3 stock Rugers for an FA. The Buckeye has substantial collectors interest so you’d get close, selling it and one other, to funding a single cylinder, used FA. I have Bowen/Fishpaw touched FA97 in 32H&R/327 Fed that I would love to get a third cylinder in 32-20. The shipping 2 ways really kills the deal. Maybe someday. Tim Very nice. ...another vote for the FA as I basically did the same...
Had a FA 97/6.5" and a custom S&W 53 that was converted to .327 by Jack Huntington that were keepers...
But I also had a Ruger SP-101 3", Ruger LCR, Ruger GP-100 4", Ruger S-S Birdshead .32 H&R, and a S&W 632 PRO that I sold off to buy a 4.25" FA 97...
Don't miss any of them...and love the FA..

As I get older I find myself changing, evolving, regressing, whatever you want to call it on my gun selection. I only shoot one at a time and I have basically sold all my duplicate type guns to get down to the one or two of each configuration that I really enjoy. My goal this year is to focus on the few I have left, find loads they each like and then load and enjoy them. Your mileage may vary but that is why I marked the one FA. Shoot, that is even why Tim has that dual cylinder 32/327 FA/Bowe/Fishpaw gun I used to own. With Fermins' 327/32-20 in the safe and they way it shoots, the FA never left the safe thus the move to Tim's place.

I'd keep my eye out for a deal on the FA you want, and if that doesn't come along in a reasonable time take the Blackhawk and have action work done, grips made, SBH hammer installed, and sights upgraded. Then sell the other two you don't shoot. I know, no 32-20 that way but if we're simplifying, then simplify loading and ammo also. The two extra shots are welcome.
If you're looking to add optics, FA gets the nod.

I'd look up values for both the Buckeye & the BH & consider selling vs. trading. I don't follow the Buckeyes, but last I looked, the .327 Blackhawks were fetching a pretty penny.

Voted for the FA! But I swore never to sell to buy. That said, I have a 3rd gen SAA Colt in 44 special and a 3 digit Ruger 256 Hawkeye . If I can magically trade those two into a nib FA 97-83 4” and change oct barrel ,action job and round butt in 41 mag I think I’d be happy to break my swearing! Lol

Doesn't matter how you get it. Every handgunner should own a FA at least once.

"KEEP THE RUGERS--BORROW THE $$ FOR THE FA. SIX MONTHS LATER YOU WON'T MISS THE MONEY"
Since the poll didn't include any other options,, I think John's comment says volumes.
I'm a Ruger collector and a shooter. I also own a FA. And I own a Buckeye,, a Blackhawk, and the Single-Seven all in 32 cal. I don't have a GP in it.
Everybody has different ideas for their own interests & uses. That said, here are a few things to consider. You can sell the Rugers,, and then, if you can't find a FA soon enough,, that money may find other uses,, and you'd be w/o what you seek. Money doesn't carry the same "keep it" factor as a good firearm. And as John says,, you can make more money. I'd start a FA gun fund. Put aside money just for a FA,, and start the serious hunt when you get close to the value of one. Sell other goodies & stuff,, even if in a yard sale & you sell your other "junk" eerr,, vintage items,, and put that money aside for a FA.
But if you do choose to sell the Rugers,, you do have a couple of them that are desirable and pricey. To a collector,, a "complete package" is most desirable,, and commands the better price. That means; mint to ANIB gun, box, shipper (if it had one,) manual, and all the stuff that came with the gun originally. The Buckeye,, must have the spare cylinder, the bag it came in etc. The Buckeye,, is a desirable gun and commands a premium in general. The Blackhawk 8 shot is also a very desirable gun. It too commands a premium. Both of these will get more $$$$ if you have the complete package. The Single-Seven,, while not currently offered,, and is selling pretty good right now,, it's a model EASILY re-introduced by Lipsey's.
Many years ago,, after several gun sales or trades,, I found myself thinking; "Gee I wish I hadn't sold that xxxxx gun" It's called "seller remorse." So, I decided to quit selling or trading ANY gun I didn't get with the idea of keeping for any purpose. (Guns I didn't want or need that I won at a NRA event or other raffle didn't count. They get sold.) When I wanted a gun,, I'd either save my money to buy it,, or sell off other stuff to afford what I desired. Long ago,, I had accumulated a bunch of odds & ends stuff that was all gun related,, that I didn't need or use. Holsters, spare parts, spare handloading stuff etc. I rented a table at a close by gun show,, sold a bunch of stuff & bought (2) guns I'd been wanting. After that,, I spent some time gathering stuff like that,, and getting a table at gun shows. I was able to build my gun collection quite a bit too. There are many ways to make "extra" money,,, and use it to fund a specific gun, WITHOUT selling off others.
And, lastly, if you keep the guns,, they can appreciate in value,, and someday,, if an emergency pops up,, and you do need to sell something quickly,, the guns sell a lot quicker than many other things.
So, my vote would be to "Keep the Rugers,, save the money for a FA."

Don’t be hasty, there is no rush to sell the Rugers. Order the FA in the configuration you want, don’t settle for finding one the auction sites that may or may not be 100% you are looking for. $500 deposit and 8 to 9 months production time gives you time to save. When the time comes you can still sell your Rugers if you need or want to. The market for your Rugers are not goin away. The reason I ordered another FA 97 was for the 8 month wait, gives me time to put $250 cash into an envelope every month, with my deposit that $2500 into the gun and remaining balance does not hurt. Everybody has a different financial situation I get it but you have three nice Rugers and I don’t see the need for you to sell right away. Order your freedom arms and enjoy.

Only buy, never sell..
Keep the Ruger's and work your way into the FA. If you don't have time to shoot now, that means you have time to save to be able to shoot what you're looking for later and keep what you have.
Then again, I guess I'm just a hoarder when it comes to owning guns.

So...I sold off between 1/3 & half of my guns a couple years ago... ( I used the funds to buy my 1960 El Camino )... at the point I was at, I was reloading more than 80 different calibers, & had run out of room, & I have a 2 room walk in gun safe room... that didn't mean I quit collecting, because, now I had more room... shortly afterwards I hired on, 2 high end custom projects... I would trade 3 "nothing special" Rugers to finance 1 high end custom... but would be in no hurry to get rid of several of my Rugers, that I either like the caliber, configuration or both... BTW... I don't own any FA revolvers, I just chose to do customs of about the same value, coincidentally on Ruger revolvers ... I've never had the chance to shoot a FA revolver, & don't run into them enough around here to think I need one yet...
