Many thanks, John, for putting on paper what any real hunter has felt. To this day, my fondest hunting memory is of a huge 9 point whitetail I glassed up one evening. I was sitting in a brush row, my back to a tree when I spotted him almost 600 yards away across a big corn field. He had backed into a honeysuckle bush on another fence row and was laying down, looking right at me. There was no time or way to get at him, and the 44 magnum 629 Classic had no where near enough reach. But my memory has all the reach I need to see him over and over again, and thank the Good Lord for such experiences.

Well stated, JT! At no time during my 31 years of handgun hunting have I wished I had a rifel…riffel…or is it rifle..(can’t even spell it)…any way, never wished I had one, but there’s been a few times I wished I had a different handgun.

Revolver only in the last 30-35 years except for maybe a primitive or odd long gun of specific interest.

I don’t even bow hunt anymore. Handguns and handgun hunting, consumes my thoughts. Even outside of hunting season, one of my most favorite things in the world to do is strap one of my revolvers on, grab a bottle of water, and go for a 2-3 hour ‘wander’ at my lease in Texas. Best therapy in the world.

I don't even own a hunting rifle. My only rfles are a lrp target rifle and an sbr ar15 platform. Other than that it's revolver mainly with xp100 or contender handling longer ranges.

I primarily hunt with a handgun, however I also enjoy hunting with rifles on occasion. If I had to put a percentage on it, I am 80% handgun to 20% rifle.

Mr. Taffin you just won the daily prize. I have felt the same way many times but never managed to put it in writing. Thank you. Wow, that is so well said I hint exclusively with handguns I have used a TC encore 15" barrel but my favorite hunts have been with revolvers. I think I needed the attitude change. Yrs. Ago I got into handgun hunting not nearly as long ago as some of you more experienced elders but, for no other reason than to challenge my abilities as a hunter not such someone who could hit the mark with a rifle. Not just someone who could glass something out and shoot from astronomical distances. I chose to do it because I wanted to make the hunt mean more to let the hunt be more equal. Even with my . 44 magnum super redhawk I had at the time I already had the advantage . Now the skill of getting closer being more stealthy than he was. I viewed a buck come over the ridge top to my right over a 100 yards away and drop down to a lower bench far beyond my shot distance abilities when I first seen him. 4 or 5 does had followed him as he went out of sight. I crotched down and walked low then as I drew closer I belly crawled some good many yards toward the top of the ridge line close to where I seen him drop over in hopes he would be below somewhere. As I slowly made it to the crest of the ridge and looked over he had just bed down a doe or two still standing watch I so carefully pulled my revolver from my chest holster and lined up the shot 40 yards away . He never moved from his bed it was a great shot. It was a huge since of accomplishment. How many times had I stood and watch those bucks walk away knowing I stood no chance of getting closer. Many times but those moments when you do make up for all those moments you admire and go on. For me handgun hunting is a great challenge.
