Congrats on a great handgun hunt and best of luck with your shoulder surgery!
I underwent a reverse replacement of my right shoulder in 2015 after 3 previous failed shoulder surgeries due to a 24' fall from a deer stand in Oct. 2014. The recovery was slow but beyond having to give up traditional archery I've been deer hunting with handguns and lighter recoiling rifles ever since. It's not as good as new but it keeps me doing most things that I enjoy.

Gun season is over, we only get 7 days, and I wont be hunting with the bow this year with the shoulder, sitting in the cold after drawing the crossbow just seizes the motion in my right arm with any weight whatsoever. Surgery is scheduled for the 31'st, new years eve, so won't be going M/L either as not enough time to kill hang and butcher before the right arm is bound to a sling for at least 6 weeks. So yes my season is over this year.
I have three of the rotator cuff muscles ripped from the bone, two have been for a few years, but this last one, the largest that holds the shoulder down and in it's socket is the one that will be reattached, it can't be fixed and most suggest replacement, but that would mean no more fly fishing, or drawing the crossbow, as well heavy restriction on what I would be able to shoot. But repairing this main muscle, the largest of the five, should allow me to continue to do the things I live for, as well as long trips on the Harley for a few more years, with discomfort I have been tolerating till this last one was torn loose. No guarantees, but my surgeon has faith in me and knows how I operate, and believes he can give a few more years livin the dream, my way.

I just got out of the hospital. Congestive heart failure. So no hunting this year. I'll have to live out the season through y'all's stories. Congratulations on a fine doe. I also have that mold and planned to try it in both the magnum and the maximum this season.

Wow, that doe is a tub now! The cleaned barrel and cylinder and those grips are really sharp. What wood are the grips? They're a neat set

Wormy Pecan. Now that's the good stuff. The best looking hedge sets a friend and I did were from posts that were in the ground before Oklahoma became a state. Buggy and stained up from a century of weather. My brother in law made a really nice Kitchen table from old yellow pine lumber full of stained up rusty nail holes. I'd trade my walnut Thomasville table plus cash for it.
