Anyone have Power Pistol data for the .41 magnum? Alliant don't have any listed on their site and told me in an email that either Unique or 2400 is a better choice

Hello Brian, I could not find any specific loads for the 41 mag with Power Pistol but in my sixth edition Hornady manual in the powder burn rate chart Unique is 24th fastest and Power Pistol is 26th fastest most of the powders listed in this book is for slower burning powders such as AA#7,AA#9,2400,and win.296. My old Hodgdon no.26 list Unique loads from 8.0 to 10.5 with Unique and a 200 -210 grain bullet . I don't know if this will help but it is all I could find at this time .-----------------Terry

Hey Brian I found another reloaders guide from 1996 and it shows some loads for the 44 mag with power pistol 13.5 grains 1,400fps and 31,900 psi. with a 240 jsp . In the same sheet there is a load for the 41 mag with10.1 gr. of Unique for 1265 fps & 35,400 psi with a 210 jsp. Maybe Mr. Taffin could help you on this one . Just proceed with caution it might be safer to use another powder rather than risk injury or damage.
When I saw your topic, I thought "Me too". I worked on loads this past weekend with the same powder, as I am liking it in 44 specials. It seems to be burning cleaner than Unique with good consistency.
I am looking for 230 gr. bullets to travel at 1000 fps in my 4 5/8" barrel. I am close to achieving. 8.0 grains averages 968 fps with extreme spread of 23, standard deviation is 8. Accuracy is good but this gun is capable of better. The cases are a bit dirtier than with my 44 special loads. (pressure may be too low/bullets too hard)
I am going to work up to another .5 grain, and see where it gets me with accuracy. I don't plan to go any higher.
I have no desire to get magnum velocities with this powder. H110 and 2400 are much better for that I think.

In Handloader #264, Brian Pearce used Power Pistol with a 231 gr. Keith-style bullet and published the following using a 5.5" AcuSport Bisley in 41 magnum:
He said the 8 gr load produced a 25 yd group under 1" and an extreme spread of 15 fps over a 5 shot string. Starline cases and CCI 300 primers. I haven't tried this powder personally, but may at some point.
