Most of the dangerous stuff can do 50yds. between 3-5 seconds,......I’ve been trying to build an affordable and portable example for shooters to try, but coming up with a target system that fast isn’t easy without building something non portable.

Are there any results from the CE Raptor bullets yet?

Well yes, but issues with them I believe outweigh the possible performance. Accuracy is good, but Bullet speeds are really erratic. It appears gases are escaping past the bullets. Penetration tests were also erratic, as were expansion tests. Switching to more conventional bullets, accuracy, similar speeds and expansion all improved. For nice expanding bullets, that hold together and penetrate deeply, the Swift 300 and 325 grain bullets in .45 caliber, even outperformed the .510 bullets. The penetration was very similar, even with the greater weights in .510. The Swift bullets regularly expanded better and more uniformly that the larger .510’s. If I was hunting here, I would use my 500 grain hollow point .510’s. They expand well, and with the added weight, penetrate wonderfully. The 500LINEBAUGH really likes the slower heavier bullets, but because if this hunt, I would prefer the .454 with proven bullets at the faster Casull speeds. Lots more, but this is the jest of it.

What sort of velocity spreads did you see with the Raptor bullets? And remind me what weight were the Raptors?

I tried their factory load in 45 ACP on a small hog, performance was very lacking. The XTP was head and shoulders better in both wound channel and penetration.

I've not tried them yet and never have killed anything bigger than big bottom land Ohio deer. For what you guys are discussing...maybe Hawk bullets ? I've been curious and at some time will try a couple of boxes. Maybe one for the 480's and a box for the 350 Legend carbine.
