Thanks fellas. I sure am excited! Im hoping since it went back to the factory for the wine colored grips and the second cylinder it got the trigger tune while it was there.

Those grips are FA's standard unless you upgrade.
The 45 Colt cylinder probably came with the gun too. Bet you use it far more than the 454 Casull cylinder.
Will be an excellent gun to add to any revolver battery

WOW, A CLASSY REVOLVER FOR SURE. IF IT DOES NOT HAVE THE REPLACEABLE FIRING PIN/BUSHING I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT UPGRADE.

Thanks Encore. I will probably be using the 454 cylinder the most as we have several Colt SAA strength revolvers around here so I want to put (basically) tier 3 45 Colt loads in the Casull cases for safety. I dont want one of my kids grabbing the wrong box of ammo and blowing up my Uberti.

I dont want one of my kids grabbing the wrong box of ammo and blowing up my Uberti. I use 15.5 grn of Longshot behind the 250 grn XTPs in 454 Casull brass. It's a unique load that does all I need here. The load takes less grains of powder than a full house 357 Magnum load and produces more energy and frontal impact than a 44 Magnum. Recipe from the Hodgdon's Website...

Great price on a GREAT gun. Perfect “non-standard” barrel length in my opinion. I’m considering having one of my 7 1/2” guns re-barreled to that same length. As mentioned with the octagon barrel and extra cylinder that was a heckuva deal.
I see it has a bead sight on front. Quite possibly has the V-notch rear “express” sight.
Congratulations on your choice on a Christmas gift. 😀

Like encore64 said, the grips are the standard material and many come with the 45 Colt cylinder. Mr Bradshaw makes an awesome point about dry firing these things. When you get it just put the piece of leather to keep the hammer from hitting home and if the pull is a crisp 3 lbs, it has the Action Job. If it's a crisp 4-5 lbs, it doesn't (don't remember the exact standard pull).
Cock the hammer and look at the back of the firing pin. If it has a bushing that takes a spanner wrench (#10 I believe) it has the removable firing pin and order a spare or two as they're $8 ish.
Get yourself a couple 100 round MTM boxes and label them Freedom Arms 45 Colt or some such and that might take care of the heavy 45 Colt loads. In truth the gun should shoot awesome with light 45 Colt loads so it doesn't really matter. I don't have any 45 Colt's weaker than a regular BH so I don't bother with a specific box but I can understand why you would.
Many will offer up loads for the 454 and it can get overwhelming because these revolvers will make you think "this is an awesome load", then you'll try another load and think "this is an awesome load", and then you'll try another load and think.....

If you have the serial #, call Freedom Arms and ask. She always answered my questions. Order the replacement firing pins and ask what rear sight blade it was shipped with (if it has the V blade and you like a regular sight picture you might want to change it).
I doubt it was sent back for the cylinder as an octagonal barrel gun would imply it was ordered by someone who didn't overly worry about the added cost of a spare cylinder. You got a fine revolver with a few nice options (and probably the action job too for the reason I mentioned).

Those are the thickest cylinder walls I think I've ever seen! I have two different 454s and neither one comes close. One of my favorite "do it all" loads is a 315 gr. LFN over 15.5 gr. of Accurate #7 in Colt cases for about 1125 fps. Just a gorgeous revolver!

I was offered a FA in 454,, (Premier grade,, model 83) several years ago for a measly $1200. It was like new,, but didn't have the spare cylinder. It needed the firing pin upgrade,, which I did,, and has the round barrel. But it makes you SMILE when shooting it.
You will enjoy it,, or you are not a person who enjoys fine craftsmanship of a GOOD Single-Action!
