Had the opportunity to get a Wyoming cow tag with some friends. Had a hard time finding anything but bulls! Had everything from -14 to 65degrees. We stayed 2 in my wall tent and 2 in another’s cabelas tent. Lots of game around but the cows were in 2 huge herds. I managed to get a cow about 5 days into our hunt and the others all got theirs on day 7 Lots of meat packing and good food! Was able to shoot my cow with my 45 and ruger only solids. 140 yards, another guy over my shoulder with a 3006. Messy bear also got one with his 45 and 310 Kieth’s. 450AK got his cow with a 308. Dropped her like a sack of spuds Our fearless leader got his cow with a 3006. 450ak won the prize for the second biggest ear measurement. Haven’t figured out what his prize is but any suggestions would be appreciated Was thinking some “once” fired primers would be a nice prize. Had some beautiful sunsets and ate like kings. Would have been a great trip even without the cows. But sure glad to have them! Bonus snow buck as well!

Same gun and load as I used for the anti-goat. Just an old Blackhawk that I changed about everything on. RO with full load of wc820 and simple lube.
I had 3 pentas in the gun but with how the elk was and the shot I turned it to the solids I had loaded.

Very nice, a couple of us are thinking elk for next year in Wy..
If there was no snow on the ground you could pick up some of the Elk made “milk duds” for his prize!!! It is Halloween time.

Gosh, but I throw away a gallon jug of once fired primers every year. Or more.

I'm contemplating buying a point from WY and applying for a cow tag next year. Another solo hunt but I think it would be a kick in the pants.
