Thinking about an S&W 629 barrel installed on my Ruger Bisley 44mag. What barrel should I be looking for. Want the finished length between 5&6 inches. Thanks

8 3/8 would be best. You can easily get 5.5” out of it after you take off the thread shank area.

Jumping jahoosafats! That was quick!! Let me give it a try. I’m looking for a s&w model 58 for a old model build. Would like to end up with a 4 3/4” barrel. Hope lighting strikes twice! Good luck with your build OP! Sorry for the piggie back. Lol

S&W 41’s - gotta look to Kings6 or Bushog or one of the other well known 41 addicts.
All I have lying around are 44 and 45 and a New Frontier 45. Tim

Model 58 only came in 4" so you won't get much barrel unless you don't want an ERH. Go for a 6" model 57 barrel or 8 3/8" if you want a ribbed 41 mag project.

Be sure you have the right rib on the barrel before you buy one! The newer barrels have a wide rib on them that won't mate up with the receiver of the revolver. Lots of online sellers don't show a view from the end of the barrel and it's hard to tell. This one will work...look at the ejector rod housing This one won't

ol'Bushy In the Cottonwoods, I'll ask so no one else has to - what is the difference in the ERH area that makes the 41 barrel OK and the 44 not OK? I'm old and slow and don't see it so far? Where's Waldo? Never could find that guy... Tim

Look at the angle of the front of the shroud that houses the ejector rod. I suspect if you find a pinned style barrel you are probably good to go. Bushy will correct me if I am wrong.

Robb, I'm still not seeing it. Like I said, I'm really slow this morning. All this quarantining and stuff has ruined what little brainpower I once had. Tim

So what should be the width of the vent rib? Or just measure the frame on the Ruger,
