I had the pleasure of visiting John many times in his shop. He was a good friend and he will be missed. I am fortunate to have owned several of his pieces and his work is second to none. I will cherish the few pieces that I still have and will pass on to my boys. I was able to snag one of John's last few guns - 44mag with his CCH, front sight, base pin, and front sight, and super slick action. It will go with a couple of others that I still have. Long cylinder 41Mag also touched by Bowen 500L Here's a couple of the many long cylinder conversions that I've had and sadly let go... 45Colt 44Mag

Kraig, now I know who bought the perfected bisley 41. I was trying to recall the other day and drew a blank.

I really like the long cylinders. I also like that black powder chamfer on the 41. It is more like a bevel than some others, that I have seen.

Not as sexy as some of my full customs, but it shoots lights out! Several of your hand me downs have come through here and I think it's the only one left.

Had two handguns worked on by John. The first started life as a 4 5/8" Blackhawk in 45 Colt. I bought a Bisley frame in the white from Ruger and asked Bill Grover who could blue the frame and fit to the 45 Colt and he said Doug Turnbull. Then after reading an article by John Taffin about John Gallagher`s gunsmith work I sent the gun to him to make into 475 Linebaugh.... The second handgun started out as a stainless Bisley Hunter in 44 mag. John added a few custom parts and its now a 5 1/2" 45 Colt...

I thought you guys might like to see what the reloading/shooting shack of a top notch gunsmith looks like. These are just some of the reloading dies John and Isaac have on hand for developing loads and testing guns.

Robb, I always loved to look at his reamer collection in his tool box. some neat stuff that John built.

Gallagher's Great Guns by John Taffin"...Gallagher can do just about anything when it comes to customizing a revolver. Herein we will look at sixguns from John in three categories, very easy to pack little sixguns, everyday working sixguns, and very powerful big bore revolvers designed for the handgun hunter."

I owned Johns 445 mentioned in that article for a while. He ended up with it back a couple years later, he killed quite a few critters with it.
