...well...after a couple of shooting sessions had to make a tough decision...just didn't care for the gun... Plans were to send the gun off and have it converted to .41 Special and later changed that to .327 Magnum. But in the end was just not sure I was going to be happy with the end result so I scrapped the project and sold the gun for what I had into it...
Liked the size of the gun...balance was great and I think even with the shorter barrel and maybe even a round but would have been great... But the SAA gripframe has just never been something that fit my hand well. The other was the trigger placement. Just didn't care for the very narrow trigger offset to the side...
So besides selling off the NF, also put the three .32 H&R Magnums I have on the block and once the money for them come in will be getting one "small" .327...

The rest of the story. Bought that NF new/used in 1973 from a pawn shop in Reseda Ca for $250. Later bought George Garton`s book "Post war Colt single action armys." The mate to it was featured. Of course the number could have been up or down. I called the publisher and got Garton`s Phone # and he confirmed mine was the missing one. He owned the other and bought his from one of the son`s. Tried to buy mine but I wouldn't sell. Evidently the other son took his to the pawn shop and didn't tell them it was his fathers gun. Had he, he probably would have got far more for it. I then got a colt letter saying it was one of a consecutively matched pair sent to Wolfram leather Co. in Monrovia Ca. in 1965. The same place Murphy`s other son said his father bought it in a notarized letter he gave Garton. I had shot the gun but made it a safe queen. Later got married. I and the ex used to have tables at gun shows in Southern Ca in the 1980`s. My ex ran off with another married man that worked the gun shows along with many other guns plus that Murphy gun. I reported the thefts but the SD wouldn't list them hot as far as they were concerned they were half hers. Our divorce wasn't final. She denied taking them yet only her and I had the combo to the safe. Finally she signed a agreement that if any of the guns showed they were to be considered mine. None has ever showed up. I do know how and when she took them as later a girl friend of hers told me just how and when. I lived on hate for a number of years but with time did nothing about it as we have a daughter. I had many other guns she stole at the same time. Most were old western frontier types. Both her and him well knew the ropes in selling them. We had a hateful divorce.

Frankly the reason I told it is I still keep hopeing the gun will turn up. I have posted the story on several sites. I believe some collector that would have bought it likely is on gun sites and should see it. The serial # is 5355 NF. Its not just that gun but about 8 others. Several I inherited from family. A colt lighting, a 1878 colt, a 1906 colt SAA, a remington derringer, a s&w DA 44 russian, a old colt 380, a Lugar etc. Somewhere I have a list of the serial #`s. I have to dig for it as it happened in 1985, BUT! Here is a list of a huge later theft from my house in 2003. i.postimg.cc/mkW4GjXk/list-stolen-guns.jpg I did get #5 and #11 back.

I have two New Frontiers - a Gen 2 .357 with 5.5 inch barrel and a Gen 3 .44 Special with the 7.5 barrel. Love them both!
