This has been an interesting thread to follow.
For me the custom is the assembly of all the parts that suits me.
I'm slow to give advice on this though. People's tastes vary so widely.
Try as many different revolvers as you can and determine what features works for you.

Thanks all. This thread or one like it should be somewhere easily seen by the neophyte revolver enthusiasts. I have been shooting revolvers since I was 5 years old and am just now learning this process of customization and acquisition. I really meant it in another thread that I don't know enough to ask the right question.

This site in particular has more drop dead gorgeous revolvers than I could ever imagine. Matter of fact, before I found Singleactions, I was only aware of Bowen and Linebaugh. Whew, I didn't even know what I didn't know.
After asking questions, next thing I know I had a Bisquero sent to Clements just because I despised the factory front sight. He fixed that by building a whole new revolver under the new front sight. Funny how that works!
These guys here aren't to be trusted!

Since the subject came up, today I purchased the last Clements Bisley Old Model Hammer.
It's for a gun he's doing for me this year.
FUN STUFF!!!

Unfortunately I cannot seem to register on the Ruger Forum. Don't know why. Not an uncommon occurrence. I've been a member there for a LONG time and IMHO, it is in a death spiral. Changes in ownership, after being essentially left on auto-pilot for years have taken their toll. If that forum is to survive, it's going to take money, a tech-savvy, dedicated owner/administrator, and probably new hardware and software. Since most of the current members seem to be in their 70s and 80s, I question if that would be a financially viable choice.
At this time, no one new can join, one cannot retrieve a forgotten password, contact a human being, etc. That's one sure way to kill a forum.

I will suggest getting in line with Zane Thompson for grips. Extremely talented, and a classy gent, he still has a very satisfactory turn-around time. That will not last long. If he continues the fine work he is doing, it will not be long before his wait list is a year+.

Burnston, great advice well heeded. Who did your leather work if I may ask (your avatar)?

Lobo Gun Leather did this work; their Threepersons design. Credit where credit is due, it has withstood snow, rain, heat, mud, and manure as only central Oklahoma ranch country can provide. Several years ago when I asked for it, I believe I only waited for two months. Great communicators, great people.

Awesome wear! I only hope mine looks like yours, except my belly is going to be hanging out a lot more forward than yours!

Thank you. I believe it has developed a character that only comes from consistent and hard use. All leather looks better after a few years of exposure and hard work.

I all depends on your end goal. Belt mountain base pin, Super blackhawk hammer, barrel, cylinder, free spin pawl, Bowen sights.... Now that we have a good source for frames you can sort of pic our style.

I think Fermin Garza's front sights certainly bear inclusion in any future projects - especially that mirrored front sight.
