Instead of replacing the front sight, I pulled the rear sight on my Stainless PlowHandle and filed the recess lower to gain some elevation. Didn’t need much and you can’t tell it was modified unless you’re looking for it.

He was wanting it zeroed dead on at 50 yards, but we were unable to attain that zero with the Skeeter load and too short front sight (4" high). Instead of replacing the front sight, I pulled the rear sight on my Stainless PlowHandle and filed the recess lower to gain some elevation. Didn’t need much and you can’t tell it was modified unless you’re looking for it.
I was scrolling down to answer this, but pws beat me to it. I pulled the rear sight off mine and laid it on a small belt sander, working a little metal off the bottom of the sight. Worked perfectly allowing my a little more "down" adjustment.
KRal FYI I've used that same load (8.5 gr. Unique) and bullet in my 7 1/2" Uberti Flat Top .44 Special and velocity was a little over 1100 fps, so out of the Ruger and ought to be around 1075 fps.
