Tomorrow I expect to close the deal on my 1st ever 41 Magnum. I’ve been shooting 44 Mags and 45 Colts for 40 years and always felt that anything the 41 could do a 44 could do better. I finally decided to give one a try just to add something new. I found a LNIB stainless Bisley Blackhawk (5.5”) for a good price from a local individual. I look forward to getting it to The range.

No way to go wrong there. Congratulations on adding a 41 Magnum...

You’ll love it. Always liked the 41 since the first one I had a long time ago. The 41 will get it done and all the while being honest about its own girth. It’s slightly larger cousin, the 42.9 magnum will get it done also but has always felt the need to fib about its size.
Enjoy your 41. And welcome to the club.

I have been a 41 "mag" fan for decades. When I was younger, 41 mags were cheap because factory ammo was expensive. My intro to handloading thus occurred. 44 Magnums were all the rage. I cannot tell you how many times I out shot a person with a 44 Magnum because they could not control the weapon. In my opinion, (and it is just my opinion, I am not downing anyone else for their thoughts) the 41 should not have been called a "magnum"; it is a mild mannered cartridge that can do many things outside its pay grade without becoming... "rude". Now in fact, we do not have Griz down here, nor elk or moose. So 300 pounds or under is the most common calling. All of which the 41 is most capable of handling. Congrats on your new handgun. Shoot it, learn it, love it, repeat. Sling some lead Brother!

Everyone should have a 41 Mag. Reloading gets the most out of it. For whatever reason, my 41s are among my most accurate guns.

OP- I have the same gun & love it. The more I shoot it, the better it just 'fits' me & the .41 is such a fun round.

I've been wanting to find one of those Bisley's locally so I can add another 41 to the collection..
41 Mag is by far my favorite caliber of all time.
GTBullets.com is a great place to get some cast bullets for reloading. Otherwise if I'm shooting a jacketed bullet, I stick to XTPs or Nosler's.

That's a good lookin' Ruger. I too have 44's and they're great guns, but 41's are my favourite.. I'd like to see Ruger someday do a run of flattops in 41 and to have them in a midframe like the Lipsey 44 special is... that would be the ultimate backcountry rig for sure (with ability to shoot store bought ammo in mind anyway, vs. uploading the special)
Mine would be a stainless version much like yours. Good choice.

Oh, another 41 Mag "mistake". My 41 magnum experience is limited to a 6" blue model 57. I too was a victim of Dirty Harry and his 44 magnum. In those days, model 29s were few and far between, and if found, EXPENSIVE! I came across the before mentioned 41 at a price I could afford. As was said earlier, 41 ammo was even more rare than the mythical model 29. So after finding dies and bullets, I was off. I found the .41 less violent than the .44. Of course, you only loaded Elmer's loads, or the top-end full magnums. I still don't understand the difference the 0.019" smaller bullet makes, but the 41 seems to be more genteel, than it's 44 caliber big brother. I believe the 41 magnum, started me down the road of liking the less than common calibers.
One of the reasons the 41 mag was such of a Red Headed Stepchild, was the lack of ammo and components. Every gun shop I went to, the first question I asked was: "Do you have any 41 magnum?", they were scarce then. You have to remember, after the GCA of 68, only a dealer could order ammo and components through the mail. It wasn't till the Firearm Owner's Protection Act passed in 86, that ammo record keeping went away, along with new machine-guns (but that is a story for another time). Then we were able to buy ammo and components directly. Shortly the internet came along, and the rest is history.
So, welcome to the 41 mag clan.
Mobjack Fan of the 41.

Another one on my list, and I'm referring to your exact revolver. Just paid for my 327, so now maybe the 41 will be next. Good snag even if you overpaid. Maybe the overpaid doesn't really matter.
I like the comment about the 42.9 Magnum!
