Pretty much. 5 1/2" probably, Black Micarta, fluted cylinder, and action job. Pretty much a match for all of my 83's except for the barrel length. My first 83 had the Black Micarta and fluted cylinder and I've stayed with that configuration. Busted! The unfluted 5 1/2" has been on my radar for a couple weeks. I called and ordered another Lovell mount and some 44 Magnum snap caps from FA Friday. I happened to ask about fluting a cylinder. FA can be funny about wanting the whole revolver for some types of work. For the fluting they only want the cylinder which was the answer I wanted but didn't really want. I'm on the narrow fence right this second, but seem to be slipping. MP has both the 314-140 and the 327 Joulnir in stock, Midway has all of the reloading stuff in stock, and Sages has Gas Checks available. For me it's the hunt that's the most fun. Once the trigger is pulled, so to speak, the work begins. I've been going back through the history here looking at the MP bullet threads to see whether the 314-140 would work with the FA97 cylinder. Between the information provided in this thread and Fermin writing a bunch about it years back, I knew the nose wasn't too long.

I have both of those molds. I didn’t have any luck with those gator gas checks. They were very small. You might want to try hornady.

I have the 314-140 mold and with PC boolits Hornady gas checks aren't thrilled about going on but once through the Lee die...no problem. Crimped on the groove the OAL is 1.580. I will shoot these in my Blackhawk.

Well, I'll try some of their Aluminum GC as they tend to be larger in all of the other calibers I cast for. I won't forget the Hornady either, but they are pricey and I usually buy 5000 at a time. Nobody said it was a cheap sport.

I'm used to having to snap GC on and occasionally having to use either a delrin hammer or just seating them with my LAM, but it is slower by a magnitude. I can try some other sizes of GC if necessary and Sage's sells 250 packs so it won't be wasting too many. I've also never annealed any GC, but know how and it may be worth a try. I hate a loose GC. It's that anal thing again.

Could I get someone to measure the GC shank on a MP 314-140. That'll help with finding a GC that fits easily.
I appreciate it!

I already bought mine and the cylinder has been shipped to FA for flutes and for chamfering of the chamber/throat transition. My 357 Magnum 83 needed the chamfering also so it wasn't a real surprise.
I doubt any jacketed bullets will ever be fired through this revolver so the chamfering wasn't an option for me. Other than that, it's a baby doll. I had never even held a 97 before, but I will really enjoy the tiny thing (tiny compared to my 83's).

My mold drops a .287" gas check shank before powdercoat so it is a PITA installing the checks. I'm in the process of finding a work-around on the fat shank fiasco. In my world nothing is ever easy but I'm not bored or without ideas. I also ordered an Accurate Mold that I asked Tom to do some massaging on an existing drawing (it's the 31-126D). It arrived 5 days after he had added it to his catalog. Since my cylinder is probably real close to Wyoming and I don't know how they'll fit, I'll wait before sizing. It casts really well and those little bullets sure pile up quick.
