This is quite different than my past loading efforts. Found some data on Hogdens site, that wasn't in their 2019 Annual. Any other sources ? Other sources of jscketed bullets besides MidwayUSA ? Who here is ahead of me on this ? Save me some oops please. Have a brand new unfired so far today...LOL. Savage Axis XP S.S. with Bushnell(sorry), scope, 350 Legend. Trying a Blackhawk flex Kudu sling. Brought home a variety of Winchester loads to start. Opinions ? School me please.

I have not fooled with the 350 legend, but on cast boolits there is a discussion as to the groove diameter of different brand rifles. Apparently some manufacturers are using 9mm sized barrels at .355”, and some are using a larger groove diameter of .357-.358”.

Thanks. Am seeing mentioned that some bullets .355, some .357.. tech issue possibly as per state regs as to min bore size.

I'll try and find that discussion, from Castboolits.

All of the bullets I’ve pulled from factory loads are .355” or .354”. There is a sticker on my Lee die set that says NOTE: “Manufacturers recommend using .355 bullets. When using bullets larger than .356, be sure to measure the case neck diameter on cartridge. The neck must not exceed .3792 or excess pressure may result.” For target loads, I’m having very good results with Win 145 FMJs, IMR 4227 powder and Starline cases. All guns have preferences, my rifle seems to like the Win 150’s best for factory hunting loads. I have some Hornady 165’s on backorder I’m anxious to try out.

Thank you. On the web..that win 150 Deer loading seems to be making people happy. Complete penetration(broadsides) with expansion. Have 2 boxes of it here now. The one box of 180 SP interests me. The 170 Hornady a maybe to try. A light handy carbine. Recoil mild for what it can do.

The 350 uses small rifle primers. Any favorites ? Any to avoid ? I've used CCI and WLP here only, in pistol.

Has Handloader Magazine done an article on the 350 Legend yet ? Which issue ?

Ok, not seeing it. Found site, checked back issues per what's shown on the covers. Looks like they haven't gone there yet.

Likely will be ordering some components soon. Difficult as some manufacturers have products but not yet on their own websites ! Will be trying Lil'gun msybe, for the first time. With the heavier bullet choices, 150fps ahead of H110, IMR4227. Intrigued by use of 147gr HP 9mm bullets to plink, play. Double the intended velo and they should just frag apart. hopefully they'll wait to impact ! Urban varmint load ?

I’d be interested to see what the 147 XTP would do broadside/lungs on a deer. Every XTP I’ve shot in .40 and .45 cal wasn’t recovered or barely expanded when shot at a deer. I’ve only recovered two XTPs and they were not broadside lung shots. In fact lately, with my smokeless muzzleloader pushing the .40 200 XTP at 2600+ I aim for shoulder/high shoulder. They typically drop hard.

Please, if and when ya see articles, solid info, data, give me a PM or post here please. It seems that Winchester went with 9mm/.355" bullets. Yet I'm seeing lots of youtube stuff of guys using .357 handgun , and even .358 rifle bullets. I did bring home a box of 9mm 147gr XTP for play and likely a decent broadside shot deer bullet. Will be contacting Winchester on when their bullets will be available. Will use H110 and IMR 4227 for now.

Does anyone here, of the top of your head, know the name of the those loading manuals that are per caliber. One booklet per cartridge ?
