It's a decent enough concept, but I won't buy anything with Ken S Latrans, I mean Wiley Clapps name on it. I remember him all to well in his younger days. Or "Quien es Latrans" roughly translated, "Who is (Wiley) Coyote?" And "Canis latrans" is the name for "coyote". The slang terms for "coyote" mirror my admiration for Mr Clapp.

Scott Kolar posted pics of one with his stag grips, on FB.

That would make a dandy little back up carry gun in .45 ACP for a 1911. A couple of Wilson Combat ten round magazines to top off your primary or act as a speedloader for your Ruger and your all set.

I bought one two weeks ago. very nice actually impressive like the last Ruger I bought. Which is a pleasant surprise after some bad ones in the past couple years. the barrel is actually 4 5/8 on the carryhawk. birdshead grip is very comfortable. I have been putting lots of different rounds thru it tand am still on the fence with the big dot sight. It’s capable of good accuracy but not forgiving at longer range. Very different than a blade sight but it’s been interesting to try. I’m Not sure how I’ll leave it in the end but it definitely makes a good woods walking gun and can handle the heavy stuff for big predators. I like it

“ the barrel is actually 4 5/8” That makes it a whole different animal. The 4” barrel is what really made it unique.

My Alan Harton Montado in 45 Colt, 3.75" barrel, covers this role perfectly. It's in my avatar, and below. A 250-ish hp at about 1,000 fps hits pretty hard. .

Picked up mine today, courtesy of Scott Kolar. Neat little sixgun. Disappointed it's not actually 4" like the TALO flyer said. Mine's gonna get one of Ronnie's grip frames.

I’d like to see some pictures of that after you change grip frames. Are you sticking with birdshead or a bisley? I’m finally adjusting to the big dot sights just a different style of sighting at longer range. Overall a great shooting gun. Unfortunately I had ordered a El Paso holster before I got the gun and got the holster for a 4 inch barrel like the description said so was quite disappointed when the barrel actually was 4 5/8. Odd their still advertising it that way

Bisley and I'll probably roundbutt it. Gonna try a recent manufacture XR3-RED as well. I shot it with the birdshead and really don't care for them.

I am less interested than I was at first. I have a NBH 4 5/8" convertable that only weight 35.5OZ so I don't see much need to add another one with the same barrel length and more weight.

That's a vast improvement IMO CraigC. I've tried to like the Ruger birdshead grip...I WANT to like it. But it just feels lousy in my hand.
