Congratulations on a fine buck with the classic old Keith bullet, always works if placed correctly. Dick Thank you for your kindness. You should expect a call from me at the conclusion of this season to discuss some bullet alternatives. Your success in this field is legendary.

Following up on your thread,, I see many fine sixgunners here appreciate your skills & devotion to truly be a HUNTER.
I recently returned from Colorado,, where I was hunting elk,, with just a sixgun. Well, the elk never came down off the mountains into my units,, so I, as well as the others in our groups even got a shot. That's hunting. BUT,, many of the guys were highly skeptical of my choice of a handgun as my firearm of choice. I asked them; "How much did you practice for this hunt?" Most of the comments amounted to "very little" in general. Only one guy got "serious" and he was my friend,, Sam. When I commented that I started daily practice back in May,, and had shot close to 3000 rounds just preparing for this hunt,, they all shut up.
My point is that it takes a lot of serious practice of field craft, knowledge of the animals, and especially shooting practice to honor the animal with a clean, humane killing shot. I'd say you are well on your way!

Great hunt, great write up, and a great gun. Congratulations on a job well done. (Pretty nice bonnet too ) Sounds like you have been living daily with that revolver. It shows in the results. Dan

Dan Thanks, Dan. It is a daily carry; as natural to the job as the “bonnet” you noted (thanks, by the way,) and the saddle I sit in. By the way, if you ever want to set your top knot up similarly, Duane Fair in Sallisaw Oklahoma (K Bar F Hatters) makes them for me. He’ll make you whatever you like, as a guy with good bonnet taste yourself.

Great story and inspirational. My goal is to take my 4” model 57 and take deer as well. Your story helps me know it can still be done! After my javelina success, I got over the initial hurdle, now I can work up to bigger and better.
Your model 21 is a gorgeous rig. Nice buck, and can’t wait for your next success story.

Some how I missed this story, between visiting Swedes and Norwegians for Thanksgiving and then spending a week with them hunting S.Texas.
Congrats on a well deserved trophy, with a vintage classic gun. It’s always nice to see a fellow hunter with a taste for good felt as well.
