Now that I think about it, it may have been FFF black instead of smokeless, so I heard

VERY frustrating, not to mention expensive. I've done it once...ONCE! Now, the only powder out of the cabinet & on the loading bench is the one I'm currently loading with.

Thanks for the positive responses guys. Seems like my mistake has given several people a reminder of what can happen when we lose focus, act without thinking, and may keep them from making the same mistake I did. So in that respect my loss can be someone else's gain, and I'm good with that.

There is no such thing as a good, cheap education, and the point is to learn from it----immediately. Those who don’t, join the KA-BOOM Club. I asked a room full of delegates at an IHMSA championship, around 300 were present, How many of you have had a gun in your hand go off when you didn’t intend it?The room was a forest of raised arms. Nearly everyone raised his or her hand. I suspect those who did not were fibbing just a little. And that is why MUZZLE CONTROL is the first and last rule of firearms handling. A rule of high explosives may apply to smokeless powder: fast powder will boost slow powder to ignite faster. The slow powder does not slow down the fast powder. In a column off high explosives, the mass of slower VOD (Velocity of Detonation) explosive briefly boosts, then drops back to its innate VOD. Powder in a cartridge case will not have time to taper off; it hasn’t the mass to relax. “Pressure is pressure,” some folks say, but it is not all alike. Velocity and dwell----the rise to peak and shape of the peak----differ with propellant and environment. Observable only in an abstract fashion. No matter how much we emphasize careful load development, someone out there will challenge the guard rails. Recently read a declarative statement to the effect, if I remember, that a Ruger in .45 Colt will take 57,000 psi. Does anyone think this kind of statement would favorably impress Bill Ruger? We’re on our own at the loading bench.... well, not entirely. We have manuals and generations of shared experience to draw upon. We arrive focussed on the job of loading good ammunition, armed with common sense. Murphy hides in the shadows with his allies Ignorance and Stupidity. By catching the powder, you kept Murphy from crashing the party. David Bradshaw

Oh My Goodness, have i seen this happen. I have done it once and knew better. unique to H110. To big a hurry and lost focus. My worst (two many containers in the local vicinity) was at Pamona CA. at the world finals and we were up against John Force in the next round of Nitro Funny Car and ready for him after a 45 minute turnaround! Rods,Pistons, rings, bearings, heads, new freshly stripped supercharger and new clutch. In a hurry to get the Simpson racing jersey on and hit the line for second round, And I Poured 4 gallons of wasted Castrol nitro 70 weight oil into what i thought was the empty VP nitro used oil barrel. Every time you run a top fuel engine, at the end of the 300 plus MPH run, the oil is Junk! I turned around in a flash and saw the used oil container 12 feet away and just realised what i had done. I have just poured the oil into a brand new freshly opened 55 gallon Barrel with forty plus gallons of Nitro Methane! You can only ship 400 Lbs of Nitro per container which is roughly about 42 gallons, leaving plenty of room for the oil. So that was a two thousand dollar Mistake all because we Didnt keep the barrels separate. Disipline Man! I knew Better. Hahaha. And we didnt even win! he smoked us with a 3.872 334mph to our 4.011 311 Mph hour run. Daaaaaangiiit!
