I just cant see paying that minimum for what the gun is. my Gallagher 45 didnt cost that and John fit a maximum cylinder, tight 45 colt, action job, weigand front sight and made stocks for it. i cant see paying that for a gun with an action job, sight work grips and the factory cylinders still. just my .02

Sights- $250 Action work- $200 Trigger stop- $50? Base pin- $50 Free spin- $25 Remove cylinder engraving- $50
About $650 in custom work, none except the base pin might improve accuracy, so it's a shootability package really.
$700 for the base gun. $650 for the custom work makes the Linebaugh grips $400 (no idea what he charges, but it's certainly more and a 2+ year wait). Rough estimates, of course. Not a bad value compared to having it built, but only if that's exactly what you want. Otherwise a person would be better off spending that money on their own custom.
Just my take, though I agree these semi-customs appear to be a harder sale right now.
Good looking gun, but were it mine I'd like the endshake fixed and barrel set back which puts it in the price range of some line bored customs.
It's a gun waiting for someone who needs the Linebaugh grips, IMO.

Of the guns that gentleman was selling I would have spent the extra $1000 and taken the 5 shot 45 done by David Clements.

I just did a quick search of the seller's (MBL011) completed auctions, and it appears his starting prices are too high. In the last month, he only had bids on three items, out of the nineteen listed. Two of those items had one bid a piece. The only one that had any competion, was the Gallagher Long Cylinder Ruger 44 Magnum.
So it does appear that the market for customs is soft. The other thing that *may* make it more difficult, is not taking a credit card. I personally, will not purchase anything that I cannot lay hands and eyes on, without using a credit card. You have "some" protection that way.

He has had a couple that interested me. But that thing about my FFL accepting from a private individual stopped me. I had one guy who would do it, but he passed away. Can't find anybody else.
