Stump Buster and Squatch like this
Post by tj3006 on Oct 13, 2019 17:10:55 GMT -5
Went to my local range this morning , mostly to see how my CZ 557 l.308 likes a 150 grain Barnes triple shock. (not real well ) but i brought my 5.5 in Blackhawk .45LC and had 43 Rounds of the load John Recommended. Bullet was Matt,s 260 grain swc , Over 8.5 grains of Unique,
Last Time i shot this revolver, i was simply terrible, I posted that i could not hit the ocean if i were 10 feet underwater. I missed the Target completely at 25 feet several times. And John Told my i was Flinching.
So i loaded the load John Suggested , And did a bunch of dry firing to Practice. It paid off !I shot the 1st 23 at 50 feet , and While i can't say i am a good shot yet, at least the target i am shooting at is no longer the safest thing down range ! I had some tight little clusters and while there were flyers, when i retrieved the Target there was the same number of holes in it as there were fired cases in my box !
Hung up another target, the 1st 5 (i left a chamber mty to catch myself flinch) Were inside about 2 inches. And I knew i was doing better because there was a Caterpillar looking thing in the Middle of my target that got bigger the more i fired ! 14 of the last 20 were in the 5X2.75 inch orange square in the middle of my target. And again, there was a hole in my target for every shot fired.
Most of my shots were left of center , so i can adjust a bit.
I am learning ,And this sight it a great help ! Guys like John and Fermin and a bunch of others are really a huge help and i thank you.
I definitely prefer the Bisley style grip frame.
I think when my .41 arrives witch should be tomorrow, I will be loading up mostly mild loads, to develop skill, I will load up a few pretty hot just to get a feel, But i think by next hunting season, i might just hunt with a Revolver at least part of the time !
I figure if i can put 6 rounds in a paper plate at 50 yards i can hunt Mule deer out to the same Distance ! ...
