borrowed my inline to my buddy... it ended up had to take the scope off, & couldn't use the pellets... must have been in a primitive zone??? thought we read the rules when he registered & don't recall seeing anything about not being able to use scopes ( no electronic it said ) & nothing about using pellets, but had to buy powder out there... but was worth it... not a monster but nice...

Congrats to your buddy, that is a fine elk.
In Colorado muzzleloader seasons all require that rifle not have scope, pellet powders, or sabots. The was a few years where inline muzzleloaders were not allowed even but they backed down on that one. It doesnt have anything to do with hunting in a wilderness area or not. Heck with some of the modern inlines with scopes 250 yards shots are commonplace so where is the disadvantage of hunting with a muzzleloader? Getting to hunt elk during the rut/bugling season is huge, frankly most of the big bulls seem to be killed every year buy archery and muzzleloader hunters over rifle hunters when the big bulls defenses are down.
That bull he killed is a typical rag horn and represents 60-70% of the bulls killed each season. They are 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 years old and excellent eating, I don't pass on these teenagers when the chance comes up.

he didn't say, but I had the sights set up for 300 grain powerbelts... must have been able to use the bullets, just not the pelleted powder... I gave him my necessity fanny pack to use, & it had some blackhorn graduated tubes I kept the pellets in, so he likely measured powder using those ( I would have )... haven't really talked to him, just a few texts, he doesn't have signal at camp, probably texted from the locker, they took the elk in right away, to get it cooling... it's pretty warm there... said there was a story to tell about packing it out... so I'm waiting to here that
