...but this might just be a thing. How about .312/38? I may have to make proper dies for this... and a chamber reamer, of course.

Tinker- Old idea with a lot of variations out there. The newest (I believe) is the 30 Badger. Simply take the 38 Special (or 357) and size the neck down to where you want in a 30 Mauser, 7.62 Tok or 30 Luger sizing die. The Badger is the 38 Special in the 30 Mauser sizer. You have a complete (except for expander) set of dies that way. You should be able to do the reamer yourself....................

After all, as near as I can tell the primary purpose of wild-catting is to reproduce the performance of an existing cartridge in the most inconvenient form possible... Dies are available? Jeez, might as well not bother. At least when I said, 'This could be a thing' I was right; it's .30 Badger.

After all, as near as I can tell the primary purpose of wild-catting is to reproduce the performance of an existing cartridge in the most inconvenient form possible.. Not always, just on occasion.. Dies are available? Jeez, might as well not bother. I could just not say anything and let you discover it for yourself and let you have the fun of it..... besides, all the ones I've shot were rifles. You would basically have it in the first revolver. That's your out............................ At least when I said, 'This could be a thing' I was right; it's .30 Badger. That cartridge was envisioned by an old tool and die maker in southern Michigan. I shot several of the rifles he altered at a shoot.

I opted to go the other way so I'm prepared should I run into a good deal on a S&W 38-44.

mart....I like that idea but I don't think you have taken the idea quite far enough.
How about a 511-22lr 500 Linebaugh bullets in a 22 LR cartridge

Funny thing is, I was resizing a ton of .357 brass today thinking that I need to find a barrel for my .256 WM project. Then, seconds later, I was thinking, it might be fun to add a third barrel in a .357 necked to .312. Hmm.
