Hello All, I bought this mold online. I know it was designed by Dick Casull for the 454 Casull but I haven't been able to find much documented reloading info for it. Can anyone help guide me in the right direction? Thanks Boats

THIS HAS BEEN MY NUMBER ONE HEAVY .45 COLT BULLET SINCE DICK DESIGNED. I USE 21.5 GRAINS OF WW296 OR H110 FOR ABOUT 1200 FPS. IN A FREEDOM ARMS 4-3/4" WE HAVE SHOT TARGETS SUCCESSFULLY OUT TO 700 YARDS. NO DEER HAS EVER SPOKEN BACK WHEN HIT BY IT.

Have you cast any yet? I was wondering how much they weigh.

Kinda looks like a J.D. Jones bullet design.

Good score! That's a tough mold to come by.

Disc Casull designed 2 bullets for the 454. I believe yours is the lighter weight bullet which weighed about 270 grains or so and had a more truncated cone nose. The other was a 315 or so and had a more truncated radius lbt style look. It was #454629 and of the 2 designs got most of the press over the years.

I always liked the heavier “300” grain version. Found a couple of the old FA Lyman molds last year finally.

I managed to pick up a 4 holer 454629 fairly recently thanks to a headsup from a forum member, the only one I've ever seen. Haven't cast from it yet, but remember it being a very nice bullet. Used to buy them from BRP bullets back in the early 90's.

I have the mold and it shoots very good, You should be very happy with it. But after designing my own 340 WFN for heavy duty, and a 270SA for lighter work, I just don't use it today!
