Sent my Super Blackhawk to Gary Reeder. He is going to build me one of his Ultimate Black Widows. Chambered for 454 Casull. Going With a 6.5 inch barrel. Going to try Gold Bead front and V Notch Rear. I most Likely will never need that much Power but you never know. Most of the shooting I do will be to practice with. But My Eyes are making it difficult to make much improvement. I shoot my Commander sized 45 pretty well, and my GP100 too. But I am starting to think the rear site on my Blackhawk 45 has to much play. It moves more than the sights on my other rugers. The rear sight assembly moves side to side in the milled out slot more than i like. Shooting slow at 25 feet i have missed the whole damned target. quite a lot ! With my 45 Auto I could MTY a clip into a paper plate at that distance quickly. Shooting my GP 100 I would get pretty tight groups' too. Need To take my 44 mag Bisley out there. My .45LC Blackhawk is stock other than a trigger job. 5.5 inch , I have a tough time picking up the front sight. i clean it after every time I shoot it. no sign of ledding. its frustrating me. I think I will take my Bisley 327 next time, Leave 2 chambers Mty. ...tj3006

Nothing wrong with that. My favorite big bore revolver to date is my old Reeder 454 built on a Williams/Ruger 45 Bisley.
It's the smoothest revolver I've ever held in my hand to date.

Should be a nice gun... My Avitar is a Reeder Ultimate .41 Hunter that I had him do back in 2002 after I saw his Long Colt Hunter..
As to sights, my Hunter came with the gold bead and V rear....did not care for it at all. Switched to a white outline rear and green FO front and it makes a world of difference. Have the same setup on my two GP100s also...
The sight base on the Reeder guns will take the Freedom Arms sight blades and they have a lot of different options.

I know what you mean about the sights not being as easy to see. At first I installed Bowen rears and Clements front blades (Stainless RBH's). While I could see them better, my eyes just aren't improving as age keeps climbing in numbers.
On my RBH's, I installed the micro red dot's and haven't regretted it a second. Not as pretty as before, but it grows on you after the first range trip. I use the Raptor Engineering mount and either Burris Fastfire 3, Vortex Venom, or Trijicon RMR. The red dot's sure make it easy.
Regardless of all that, I know it will be a nice toy.

I really enjoy his dot and v rear setup, has worked great for my style of range shooting, have yet to hunt with them. They are interchangeable as well, have gold/brass on 3 or 4 and then a red one on a Reeder Trailgun, was a Super Blackhawk bored and rebarreled to 45 colt. But as always to each his own, some work better for others. I know I am unable to utilize the buckhorn or semi buckhorn sight on any rifle, I prefer a flat top target style.

Excellent! I use his green fiber optic with a Bowen rear sight. The round fiber optic settles nicely into the square rear blade. I know about round pegs in a square hole! Lol But it works!

My eyes. are so inconsistent, The biggest problem i have now , is dry eye. It,s a fairly recent development, while no cure is available it comes in Degrees. I am experimenting with different treatments. Drops and such. I found a supplement designed for it yesterday. Also it might be better with wet weather. I plan to play around with different sights. I need to try a bowen target rear with my Fermin front on my .327 federal. I see fermins sight better than the factory for sure. I might try a dab of gold nail polish on the tip. My thoughts on the v rear and gold bead front are for quicker line up. My eyes will focus prety quickly but don,t want to stay focused long. thanks for the tip on the freedom sight blades I will look them up ! ...tj3006

He prefers the Leupold Base while I find the Weigand Base much more flexible.

I get all mine D&T and blanks put in the holes. Never know what the future holds and I'm not getting younger.
Cost less to add this feature than it does to ship a gun.
