Looking at a simple conversion of a Ruger Super Redhawk to 38-40 WCF. These guns are brute strong, scope ready and beg to be hunted with.
Ordered a 7.5" version of the SRH in 10mm. To me, it's a silly chambering anyways. Could be why they are on clearance, duh?
Will be a simple conversion to build a new cylinder in 38-40 and remark the gun.
I've gotten 1600 fps with a 200 grn from my 5-Shot Blackhawk. I think the same very likely from the SRH.

Well, that's just not in the cards. Plus the SRH has a much better trigger.
The integral scope system is a big selling point as well.

Well crap! Now you are going to cost me money. How hard would a switch cylinder DA be I wonder?

Could you get the cylinders tight enough for Linebaugh’s loads for his .38-49s?

Good use for the gun... didn’t understand the SRH in 10mm... me personally would do a 401 Powermag

Thanks. I guess I have fat fingers unless I invented a new cartridge with the .38-49 instead of a .38-40. 🤪
Is Reeder doing the rechambering? I haven’t really paid a lot of attention to the Super Redhawks, is the cylinder bigger than the Blackhawk’s?

I can send brass for proper headspace on the rims, throats at .401" and correct barrel gap. The Redhawk Cylinder is considerably larger than the Blackhawk's. That's why the Redhawk can be a six shot 454 Casull or 480 Ruger.

Got the base gun for this project. Will find suitable grips next. Like most customs, will be drawn out. But, at least making headway.

JRH, told me they had someone that could cut a profiled barrel that would match the frame extension, so there would be a fine line circumferential around the joint but Profiled to look nicer than the round factory one. I was considering it for a 500L build, and then I bought another 357 maximum. I agree that a 38-40 on a SRH would Be brute strong.

Wow...a 500L would definitely be a handful in the SRH platform.
