I finally finished my 1.40" 41 Magnum project (formed from cut-down 414 SuperMag): Some details include: - Stainless Bisley with a 6" Pac Nor barrel. - 5-shot cylinder - Bowen Target rear with a home-made aluminum front post. - #5 basepin - For contrast I used a blued Bisley hammer and trigger combo - Action tuned to 2.5 lbs - Laminate Hunter grips; though I'll probably have Cary Chapman do a set of Claro Walnut in time Here's what the 5-shot cylinder looks like: Once the snow melts, I'll put it over the chrono (we got 18" over the weekend). I'll also publish load data since I know a few others will be working with the round. -Lee www.singleactions.comPS - I wish you guys would name this thing. I'm tired of calling it a 1.40" 41.

Looks good, Lee. I like the front sight and the blued on stainless is a neat touch.
How about .41-40?

I think that just knocked your 38-40 into 2nd place on my favorite guns that you've made. I really like that. I wish I had talents like that.

Very nice Lee. I cannot imagine what it's like to be able to do that sort of "work". I know you even posted step-by-step pictures but it's well beyond the capabilties of most of us.
Thanks,

PS - I wish you guys would name this thing. I'm tired of calling it a 1.40" 41. 412 SuperMag? 414 InterMag? (Intermediate Mag) That's the best two I can think of, so far. That one looks really great, BTW!

Turned out nice Lee.... I'm still waiting on mine. You will have to share your load development trials... Don't we have a forum member with a Harton 1.4 41 mag? I think that Alan provided some data too...

PS - I wish you guys would name this thing. I'm tired of calling it a 1.40" 41. I agree, right now mine will be engraved next week with ".41 CALIBER" I had a thread going once, but noone seemed to like anyone else's idea, and then it devolved into silliness. Lee - what OAL will yours handle? Alan told me mine is going to handle up to about 1.877 OAL cartridges with my rebored maximum cylinder.

What velocitys would you expect to get out of this 5 shooter?

Lee - what OAL will yours handle? Alan told me mine is going to handle up to about 1.877 OAL cartridges with my rebored maximum cylinder. Mine will handle 1.85". Haven't chrono'd this one yet, but my 401 Bobcat is pretty much the same cartridge in 10mm. From a 6-shot, it'll do 150 fps over a 41 Magnum. As a five-shot loaded to 50,000 - 55,000 PSI, this should yield 200 - 300 fps over a standard 41. -Lee www.singleactions.com

So if I get this right you expect to get 1900+ FPS from a 185ish gr bullet? Dang, better have good hearing protection for that bad boy!
I just got my first 41 mag and havn't even had the chance to shoot it yet, boys and their toys...

Not sure I can hit 1,900 fps with 185s. Most of these 5-shots give better velocity gains with heavy bullets. In fact, this conversion will probably see nothing lighter than 230 grain Keiths. Most of what I'll shoot will be in the 265 - 295 weight range. -Lee www.singleactions.com
