Any way you can post a pick of your round with a .41 mag round and maybe a .414 too please? BTW I second the .414 Martin idea. Traveling right now for work, but I'll snap a photo of the two this weekend. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I keep coming back to this thread, especially now that I have a .41 mag accusport bisley now--thanks Brionic. want to do something similar but with a 10" barrel and squeeze every bit of a long 5 shot cylinder in that frame window and also do 1.4" .41 mag (.414 Martin)

Actually there is. My dad just finished a .414 Martin. It matches the .454 he did back in March. Meaning a 6" Shilen barrel, Bisley conversion, over-sized 5-shot cylinder, and full frame length. Once we get them final blued I'll post pictures. And my .414 isn't too far off. This Nyati build is the only thing standing in the way. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

This might be a basic question, but when you do these 5 shot conversions how do you approach the pawl geometry? I would imagine the 6 shot factory fitted pawl would not have the overall length needed to index the new cylinder properly, so are you fitting something like the power customs oversized free spin pawls, or making your own custom pawls, or what?
Thanks!

Thanks! Five shots use a standard height pawl. The only modification is shortening the lower leg. This allows it to clear the extra 12 degrees of rotation. The rest of the timing is in the ratchet and hammer plunger. With the former, each cog is lowered a hair relative to six-shot orientation. In time I hope to do a how-to thread on five-hole conversions. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Lee and I have talked about single action timing on several occasions. Aided, if necessary, by Lee's computer illustrations, a tutorial should help to clarify the clockwork of these seemingly simple mechanisms. TIMING is the co-ordination of moving parts, and, like a trigger job itself, must anticipate usage. David Bradshaw

You settled on a name yet? Whats wrong with the .41 Martin? That's actually what we settled on. ".414 Martin" to be exact. There'll be an article on the main website covering load data soon. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
