SHORTY, barrel sorry for the confusion. But read the whole thread, it is stronger than any other clampless no drill mount for a red dot, and for 3 years has held up well and stayed zero'd using those loads mentioned.
It is machined to not only go around the rear of the sight cavity, it is also machined quite well to fit the sight cavity, making it stronger than most other mounts for this purpose, but also better suited for heavier recoiling revolvers like the shorty barreled Blackhawk in 45 Colt with loads like my 340 grain at 1500 fps, or the 265 SWC I load @ 1300+ fps, and do it securely. The reason for the lighter weight is not movement forward, it is what I spoke about with momentum under recoil, pulling the scope mount screw loose as the revolver heavily recoils upward throwing that weight up and back that is being held by a single screw!

...shorty barreled Blackhawk in 45 Colt with loads like my 340 grain at 1500 fps... Is this a typo?? That sounds like my 7.5" FA 454 load.

A call to Hodgdon tech might provide a hint of the pressure required to mail a 340 grain bullet 1,500 fps from the .45 Colt case in a revolver. I suspect chamber pressure VENOMOUS, to say the least. 1,500 x 1,500 x 340 divided by 450,436 = 1,698 foot pounds muzzle energy. Not to mention from a short barrel.... David Bradshaw

I SCREWED UP, and MISSED THE TYPO REFERENCE! Sorry I did not see that!!! fat fingers, and stopped when I read "shory",,,, Not! 1500, that load is only a tad over 1200 fps out of my Hunter in 45 Colt, My apologies for the fat fingers, and missed reference!

Note we are sneaking up on the 150th anniversary of the Colt 1873 Peacemaker (closer, if we go by patent dates). The Super Blackhawk Hunter and sister Bisley Hunter reach a soft spot in my appreciation of the revolver, specifically production revolvers, to overcome the deficiency of iron sights afield. No one physically unencumbered should be delt a driver’s license without learning the stick shift. Likewise, those with focusable eyes who step to the firing line with a handgun should learn to shoot irons. Yet, the ballistics of our revolvers outstrip our eyes, especially in conjunction with pressures put on game and habitat. So the scope steps up to reach beyond the fuzz of iron sights. Hardly a shame, as for all its smokeless authority, still the sixgun must do its job without a buttstock.
The Hunter and Bisley Hunter make the sight swap painless. That is what sets these sixguns apart. To the fever of BALANCE, my never-complete embrace of the Single Action Army configuration with7-1/2-inch barrel succumbs to the LIVE FIRE and aesthetic BALANCE of these Hunter sixguns. For sure a case of to-shoot-is-to-know. David Bradshaw

My LGS just called me, said that Lipsey's only ordered 75 for the first run back, but they ordered another 250; they said that the first 75 sold out in 3 minutes.
