I'm not good at evaluating pics, but some of those concern me. The amount of wear on the wood stocks looks extensive. I thought they might have been refinished. They go from nice brown to black at the end of the forend. That is normally a sign of using oil that accumulated over time into that black color.
The sight has got corrosion/rust spots. I expect that there is more, like the trigger, that has speckling.
I am a Maximum nut and would normally be all over this. This gun scares me a little.

Certainly looks heavily sanded... or the butt plate is just really over sized. The color just looks normal to me... normal for when you try to stain those birch stocks, they don't take it evenly. A lot of the 24's had near snow white wood with a sprayed on "stain".

I have 5 of the Savage 24 models in different calibres and would love to have this model, but not in that shape and price. Also have a Ruger Maxi and reload for it.

Yeah this isn't the greatest shape especially at the price it's being asked for. I've just never seen one configured like this before.
