This is a 60's custom rifle in 25-06 that was my FIL's rifle, so I didn't get that intimate with it... for the life of me, I can't remember the action it was built on... I realize this is not a good picture of the action, but can any of you see enough here to identify??? Rifle has dark tiger striped Walnut stock, & I think this one is the one with the Redfield flip up peep sight scope base??? anyway, this one will be going onto the sale list... I'll take a more "action" type picture tonight, & look it over closer, hoping it may jog my memory... Thanks for any help you can offer... shape of the bolt or receiver look familiar to anyone... assume it was a receiver originally chambered in 30-06, as that would have simplified the build... guessing an 03-A3, but would like confirmation

Definitely an 03. Would need pic of rear of the receiver to tell if an A3 or not.

I'll get another better picture tonight... thanks I'm working on a list with a good written description of each gun, it's modifications, & serial numbers to go to the seller, for the 1st group to sell... I don't want any false info, that could result in a returned gun, or would be apparent by the numerous pictures the seller takes, & make the original owner look like a dummy

Agree,...03 action. Could be A3 or possibly A4. But is doesn’t really matter they are the same basic action.

The Springfield is an O3-A3. You can see where the original peep sight was mounted. The 03 had a barrel mounted rear sight.
Believe later is a P14. It was made for the 303 British and that bolt works for the belted magnums.
The P17 was for the 30-06...

303 was a P14. The US model is called the Model of 1917 or M1917, not P17, no such animal.

The Enfield, makes good magnums, I have a very nice 300 H&H, built on a 1917. It shoots quite well, people have suggested i should make a 300 weatherby out of it. No thanks, If i need more power i will get a .338 or a .375. The old H&H case feeds so smooth , i really like just pushing rounds in the chamber !
