Since you do reload, cost is close. If you get the .45 ACP cylinder you do gain a weird advantage. You can use a 1911 magazine to feed your Uberti when loading. Don't you have trouble clearing the leather with the mag sticking out of the loading port?

Ok, you guys have my interest. Like another member said the parts seem very reasonable. Is the 45ACP cylinder “drop in”?

I recently bought the new Uberti Drifter. Basically a Peacemaker Clone with an octagon barrel.
Out of my 9 Uberti Revolvers, only 2 have fixed sights. I just couldn't resist adding one of the octagon barrel guns.
Super accurate and only shooting 1.5" low at 25 yards. Won't take much to get it to the right elevation. Windage is right on the money.

Check out Dixie Gun Works. The Flattop Target Revolvers in 44-40 and 45 Colt are the cream of the crop.

sometimes the cylinders are just a drop in fit, sometimes need a little work.... I am very unskilled but even I have been able to do this

I have a first gen Colt SAA. Chamber throats seem to be around 0.454 by my clumsy measurement. They would probably like at least a 454 bullet. Don't know what current Ubertis have. Never used these guys myself, but for parts they come up on this forum from time to time. www.vtigunparts.com/store/

I have been wanting to get a western single action six for some time. I like the Uberti 1973 El Patron Cattlemen Comp with a 4.75" barrel.
I am hoping to draw from the knowledge of the forum on some questions I have. 1) What do you think of the Uberti line? Are they a quality firearm? My Ruger's gather dust. Uberti's are by and large of superb fit and quality. Over the last year I've purchased three new Uberti's, two of them from Dixie Gun Works (32-20, .44-40 and 45 Colt) and have been absolutely elated with the quality but especially the accuracy.
2) Which would you choose the 45LC or the .357 Mag? I am leaning to the 45LC. That's a highly personal choice. If I did nothing but shoot targets, I'd choose a .357. Versus a 45 Colt the .357 is much, much easier to shoot because of it's less muzzle jump compared to a 45 Colt. That said, if I were going to be hunting with the revolver, I'd select a 45 Colt. I bought a Uberti Frisco in 45 Colt a little over a year ago and wouldn't take for it. It's accuracy has exceeded my expectations all the way out to 75 yds. 3) I shoot a lot of 45ACP. I reload with jacketed round nose 230gr .451 bullets. Can I use these to reload the 45LC? Would be nice if I could use the same round in both as I buy in bulk. I would order and fit a 45 ACP cylinder to a 45 Colt revolver. Pretty simple job. 4) I am considering the Uberti Comp because it comes with a wider low slung hammer. The one I checked out in the store felt real nice. Any comments? I have been hanging around the forum for some time. I appreciate the knowledge and honesty of the members. Thank you in advance for your input. Cholla

Thanks for all the responses. I am leaning towards the 45 colt and adding a 45 ACP cylinder.
Now I just need to sell my Ruger Precision Rimfire to help pay for it. Shoots great but would prefer the Uberti. Might sell the scope too and get a rifle in 45 Colt too if they offer that caliber.

Many of the reproduction rifles are lever action and finicky about feeding different nose length bullets. The Rolling Block handles any nose length and even the 45 Special loads in the shorter brass.

The Rolling Block handles any nose length and even the 45 Special loads in the shorter brass. Plus they exponentially up your cool factor at the range.

Are they shorter than the .45 Schofield?
