Hi All,
Looking for recommendations on a GOOD S&W smith. I have an "I" frame .32 S&W that needs a little slicking up. Parts being somewhat hard to find, I'm inclined to let someone that is an "expert" have a look.
Thanks in advance.

If all the timing checks pass muster I don't see where an I frame is all that different to slick up . Some internal differences possible but any Smith you trust with any of your S&Ws should have no trouble with an I frame. If parts must be found or changed it could be a different story.

That's just it, I don't trust any smiths. Hence my looking for a reputable one. Flat springs can be found readily for the K frames but not so they "I" frame. But thanks.

I don't know anyone offhand but I did think of a few avenues to try and find one. Try contacting Grant Cunningham. Last time I looked he wasn't taking work and I don't know if I Frames were in his wheel house but he might know someone he'd trust. The S&W Forum or S&W Collector's Assn might have a line on someone. If you do Stalker Central...I mean Facebook, you might look up Darryl Bolke at DB’s Shooting Adventures. He's got some contacts in the S&W collecting world so he might know someone who knows someone. Or you can just add revolver slicking up to your repertoire... EDIT: Hondo44 over at the Ruger Forum might know someone. Maybe Bobby Tyler or some of the other big name revolver guys would know?

Give Sandy Garrett of Northern Virginia Gun Works a call - 703-644-6504. He is an American Pistolsmiths Guild member who was also the armorer for the Fairfax County police dept back when S&Ws were carried, and factory trained. If he can do it he’ll tell you and it will be done right. I don’t have an I frame but he’s done about a dozen Smiths for me. He’s also one of the last guys still breathing that can work Pythons.

Thanks,
I will give Sandy a call. The revolver is nothing special but I LIKE it, it will be the perfect trail gun with just a little attention to the internals. There's a hitch in the single action mode when cocking. Double action is actually quite good.
The one guy I would have let work on my guns sadly died several years ago.
Much appreciated.

Z1R: DID YOU CALL SANDY? WAS HE ABLE TO HELP? Sorry, been gone camping with the kids. Just rolled back into town. Eating and catching up on emails and such. I'll try tomorrow.
