Really enjoying this round in my sp101. I am Going to shoot up the Last of my 110 grain .312 sized gas checks today. received my order of Montana Bullets 120 grain GK SWC .313 sized yesterday. The .312s fall through the chambers , freely and the .313 s fit much tighter. It will not be apples to apples here, with the weight difference , But I should learn a bunch anyway about this revolvers best size. I also loaded some 100 grain XTPS to 32 H&R levels. Would be a great load for a carry gun in the city. should stop pretty well but not over penetrate. I think I will buy some Hollow base full wadcutters for target loads, and for kids to shoot. What a versatile cartridge !...tj3006

They are generally pleasant and effective when loaded up...140's and 350 pound pigs seem to work well together!!! smile goes here

Fired the last 50 rounds with this bullet. And while not terrible it was not very good either. Having fired this revolver a few times i was loosing confidence in my shooting, Today, was no exception at 1st ! With the target at a mere 25 feet i rested the little revolver on my back pack And put 5 rounds into 2.25 inches. Not good at all. I was thinking its me, but it not, i regained some confidence quickly when i put Three rounds through the same hole off hand with my .45LC Blackhawk ! a 4th shot was touching the big hole and the last 2 made it a 2 inch group. I am thinking the .313 size bullets will make a big difference ! The SP 101 is a good gun, but the factory grips are just to small, i tried some pachmyer laminates and they were better but broke on the 3rd shot. Need to shop for something that fills my hand better than the factory. Ruger should make a bigger set of the Rubber insert grips.

I have a set of hogue finger groove grips on my sp101 in .22lr. The are not as big as the gp100 finger groove grips, but much better than the factory. I think they were only about 20 bucks. They made a big difference.

Those .313" bullets will put a smile on your face. .314" might even be better, you'll know soon.

The SP 101 is a good gun, but the factory grips are just to small, Ruger should make a bigger set of the Rubber insert grips. You did not mention which SP-101 you were shooting ? If it is the 3" fixed sight gun a 2 1/2" group would not be bad for me. That is not an easy gun to shoot well. The 4" adjustable sight guns are MUCH easier to shoot. Grip size ? Yeah , that has been a SP-101 gripe since time began . Rubber finger grove Uncle Mikes don't work for me . Too round butt. These do. Wood Hoague's , Pachmayer diamond Pro, Trausch grips (sadly discontinued , totally the best feel)
