i figured I would come to the fountain of SA wisdom. My SS 32 mag rear sight blade is .040 left of center to get it to hit at 25 yds. Called Ruger and the gal said mail it in and they would look at it but it sounded like it was in spec. Guess if the rear sight can adjust to hit center it in spec. Do I send it? Do I send it to a gunsmith? Do I try to move/turn the barrel and which way? Or any ideas?

My single seven front sight was canted, but you could actually see that it wasn’t tdc. I sent it in, with a list of other things that needed fixing. They turned the barrel and fixed the sight. Not much else. I would send it in. They have a fast turnaround and if they are paying for the shipping, what the heck.

They didn’t offer a return tag.

Send it, if they don't fix it to your liking, then try the other options.
I passed on a Flat top Bisley in 44 special this weekend because the rear sight blade was drifted pretty far to the right. So far, you could see the adjustment screw protruding a good distance. Enough that it really interfered with the sight picture. Don't know if it was an issue with the revolver or the previous owner but didn't feel like taking on another potential project.
The Front sight on my fixed sight .32 H&R was canted to one side. Ruger said send it back and they corrected it. Unfortunately, I neglected to check the cylinder gap before sending it in and while they did correct the sight in less than two day, the cylinder gap turned out to be almost .010". Well within their acceptable range but too big for my liking.
Over the years, Ruger customer service has very good to me. Very good!

They didn’t offer a return tag. That changes things. I am now not sure what I would do.

Yeah, I missed that too. When I read it, seems I skipped the "didn't" part.
Unless the front sight is canted it could be difficult to fix. Sometimes, even if the sights are dead nuts centered, a barrel will still throw rounds to one side or another. There is a reason adjustable sights are used.
So, I'm guessing that the POI was about 5" off from your point of aim?

Clint, It drives me crazy if my rear sights aren't centered. I'm sure you've considered this but... Look at the front sight from the rear and front. Does it look canted? Center rear and fire from a solid rest. Always wish I had a Ransom Rest. Still shooting to the right? If you shoot at a range, ask a range master or friend to fire it. Hope your range masters are better shots than the one I asked. If you're still not satisfied with the sights, you might call Ruger again and ask them to email a return label. Jumping through UPS or FedEx hoops to overnight a handgun ($80+) is pretty stiff. I've never had a new Ruger but they sure have a good reputation for customer service. Hope this encourages you and you get complete satisfaction.

Have had three other shooters shoot it and it hits good for windage with the the rear sight .040 to the left of center. I even put a 2 Dogs frount on and it hit same windage.

CLINTSFOLLY: I USUALLY GET 2 DOGS TO THIN MY SIGHTS TO .110 WIDE AND GUESS THAT HE THINS AN EQUAL AMOUNT ON EACH SIDE TO GET TO .110, SO MAYBE ORDER ONE .110 WIDE BUT GET HIM TO TAKE IT ALL OFF WHATEVER SIDE WILL HELP YOU WITH YOUR REAR SIGHT? ??

If your groups now hit properly the sight is working. I have more than a few sixguns and semi-automatics whose rear sight is not "centered". I have also turned more than 40 barrels of Single Actions to get the sights to line up properly.

I can make you guys a dovetail front sight. The original is milled off and the new one is installed via a dovetail cut “off center” as needed to correct the rear blade. This is an excellent opportunity to do some sculpting on that clunky Ruger factory base. More, you get a blade at your specified width, sharply serrated, and set at an angle where you can actually get a really good sight picture. I’ve been waiting for somebody to ask...

Absent yesterday with my Dad, BIL and brother working in BIL,s back yard? During a break I told my brother my 32 mag story. He spent 26 yrs as a die maker and 4 yrs as a wood model maker and has a sharp eye for line and alinement. As he looked the revolver over he said the barrel is over tightened and the sight is tipped. So I am going to make me some barrel block and see if I can turn it back. How hard are the the average barrel in there? And seeing that I loosing the barrel I was thinking about changing the barrel from a 6 1/2 to a 4 5/8. Anybody got a 32 cal 4 5/8 ?

I am currently working on replacing the barrel on a Single Six. I was surprised at how tight the barrel is. The barrels on my Vaqueros came off fairly easily. This one is going to require me to make a new set of frame blocks.
In your case it would be a lot easier to shorten the barrel, then drill and tap a new front sight screw hole in the Proper pace than it would be to replace the barrel.
