My Currant crop of single actions are in, .22 LR , a bear cat. 44 Rem Mag in 7.5 inch bisley , and a 5.5 in 45LC standard Blu black hawk. Al are great fun. I am Thinking my next should be Single 7 in .327 federal. I already have a SP101 in .327 and its inexpensive to shoot not at all punishing like full bore .44s and .45s are. I could shoot up 100 and not be fatigued. Looking at gun broker and buds , there are lots of them out there. I like the bisley a bunch and its 5.5 inch barrel should be good enough to get the little 32 caliber slugs moving along , rather briskly I think, but if i went standard grip frame i could go 7.5 inch. That would be a as long as i would want it. Witch would you guys buy and why ? thanks ...tj3006

As you already have a 5.5 and a 7.5, do you prefer one length over the other?

I have the 5.5” bisley and the 4 5/8” plow handle, along with the 5” gp100 (my favorite). To me the 7 1/2” screams for a bisley grip. With that extra weight out front, I would think the bisley grip would make it much easier to balance. The 5.5” bisley is a nice package and a sharp looking piece. The plow handle is quick handling. All are accurate. I mostly prefer bisley’s. I would buy all of them. You can’t go wrong with any of them. In the end you will probably end up with them all anyway. .327’s are addicting.

Seems like the 327's are a real hot button item right now so anything you buy you're going to like & then probably end up buying another one. Just slick up the trigger, put one of Fermin's (2 Dogs) front sights on top & you're good to go. Well almost, you're going to need one of Doc Barranti's belt rigs.....now you're ready.

i think you guys are spot on about buying more than one ! I think the little birds head Vaquero , would be fun too , not very practical but cool as hell, i am sort of lucky in that i have a crap load of hunting rifles i don't use so sell a rifle but a revolver, I will keep My Savage 99s and my 06 my 300 H&H and a .257 Roberts . ...tj3006

Not having a 32 in any case length (other than a old 95%+ condition Remington 51 32acp) I like your idea for a "next" SA. I wouldn't discount a 357 mag RBH though. I'm always pleased by the accuracy and ease of finding an accurate load in my 357's.
Not suggesting you try it yourself, but I doubt you could stuff enough H110 or 4227 in a 357 case with a heavy bullet to hurt a RBH. When you want a nice light load, a heavy cast bullet (165 grain +) and Titegroup or HS6 can make the bullets almost touch at 50 yards.
Just thought I'd add a choice and maybe spend more of your money. Consider a 357 RBH with a 4 5/8" or 5 1/2" barrel, some trigger work, either Bowen rear sight or a red dot, and a JRH grip mod and I suspect you'll have a revolver that you'll carry and shoot more than your others.

I HAVE A FIRST ISSUE 7 1/2 SINGLE 7. I WENT WITH THE LONGEST LENGTH TO GET AS MUCH MV AS POSSIBLE, BUT AS IT TURNS OUT YOU CAN GET MORE THAN ENUFF MV OUT OF A 5 1/2 INCHER. DESPITE BEING CUSTOMIZED BY BOWEN, AND BEING A VERY GOOD SHOOTER, BECAUSE OF THE LONGER BARREL LENGTH, I RARELY CARRY IT. IF I HAD IT TO DO OVER AGAIN I WOULD HAVE GONE WITH A 5 1/2 INCHER.

Federal factory 100gr SPs do a flat 1600fps out of my 4 5/8" S7; 1521 from the 7.5" S7; and 2241 from the Marlin 20" barrel. Haven't chrono'd the 3 3/4" bird's head yet. Love that Single Seven .327. Carries like a .22, shoots like a .38, hits like a .357. Perfect trail gun, finally. Just perfect.

What would it cost to have the 7-1/2"bbl made into a 5-1/2"? That's a length I like too.

FRANK V: I GOT A 5 INCH 7 SHOT 327 GP-100 SO I GOT THE SHORTER BARREL OPTION COVERED. THINKING OF PUTTING A FAST FIRE III ON THE 7 1/2 INCHER AND USE IT AS A BLIND GUN UP AT MY RANCH IN STANDS WITH 75 YARDS AND SHORTER SHOTS.

My next Ruger SA will be in 45ACP. I want the option of shooting 45 but not from an auto. The 3.5" model appeals to me, but the 5.5" Flattop in Stainless just as much. I am inundated with 45 ACP components and don't really shoot my autos much any more since retiring from LE.

Great idea, I have a blued 5.5” flat top that has never had the .45 colt cyl in it, it’s a dandy .45 acp. I think I just read on here this morning about a dual cyl M97 with short barrel, that would be even nicer yet.
