Worked out a verbal with AXE on an old 4", pre-lock, stainless, six shot, 63-3... if I can scrape up the funds in time...

...buy once...cry once...but you will never regret the purchase of an older pre-lock 63.... If you could see one of the original 63s sitting next to one of the new ones you would see the quality difference....
As to the exposed ejector rod...in 50 years of carrying Smiths have never seen one bent... I have seen Colts with bent ejector rods but their's are not supported on the end at all... Non issue....
I've had my 63 for about 25 years...had my Smith smith add a 651 .22 Magnum cylinder to it for a dual caliber gun...the .22 Magnum works better for small game shooting than .22 LR....
