I don't have as much time right now, for reloading, so I'm looking for a 22 LR that will fit in my Simply Rugged flap holster I had made for wearing around the farm... the straw that broke the camel's back, was... I was in the pasture the other day, & one of the rabbits ( I'm sure it was him ) that killed my trees last winter, was sitting in the middle of the pasture, & at the same time, there was 4 red pine squirrels in a Mulberry tree along that same pasture, stuffing their cheeks with Mulberries... I've not been carrying while doing chores, because I don't have any ammo loaded for the 22 CCM that I built for farm use, & which I had the holster made for ( 22 CCM is custom built on a 4" barrel 22 Mag Taurus Tracker ) so... most humbly I'll admit I need a 22 rim fire for everyday shooting... if you guys were choosing, I think the Charter Arms Pathfinder would fit the holster, but am not positive ( I don't currently own a Charter Arms, & admittedly know nothing about the Pathfinders )... or a 9 shot 22 LR Taurus Tracker with a 4 inch barrel would drop right in that holster... because this will be a farm use ( & abuse ) gun, I'd prefer something cheaper than a S&W however ( I think a 4" barrel 617 would also fit in that holster ) & I spotted a used S&W, cheaper than a new Taurus... anyone have a Pathfinder??? or if you have any other gun choices in the durable but cheap class to suggest??? I'm currently looking at an older used polished stainless Taurus, M-94 think these were before they called them Trackers

If you're looking to beat it up and only care if it shoots straight enough, I would look into a used Taurus. The one I have shoots accurately enough and it's had a rough life training the Beagles.
The only other one I would suggest would be the Ruger SP101 8 shot 22 LR. it's a 4.2" barrel, not sure if it would fit your holster or not though.

I assume I could pretty easily get a replacement hammer for this??? ( Pre Model 18 Combat Masterpiece ) Though the price will likely end up higher than a new Taurus by the time the auction is over, & I buy & have fit a replacement hammer... www.gunbroker.com/item/818605624This K-22 ( with a previous owners initials scratched into the trigger guard might be an option as well www.gunbroker.com/item/821066661but a stainless no frills gun does carry serious advantages, with wrestling in the mud, & sweating off a couple shirts in one day, even if it were a Taurus or Charter Arms...

After owning a 617 since the mid 90s, I highly recommend them. It's a shame the new ones have the lock and are 10 shot, but if I were in the market it would still easily be my first choice. They are great 22s.

I have an 8 shot sp101 4.2”. I never warmed up to. I put the lightest springs that I could get for it in, and the hammer is still harder to cock than any other gun I own. My wife learned to shoot on it, and with her 110lbs, it was tough for her at first, but she learned to manhandle it. Since she passed, I would never part with it. I would definitely try before you buy an sp101.

Sounds like a good job for a Wrangler ! Accurate, corrosion resistant. Affordable. A nylon Uncle Mike's holster won't set u back very much.

was hoping I could find something to fit that new Simply Rugged flap holster I bought specifically for wearing around the farm... it's not even broken in yet... The Wrangler I'm sure would not be a good fit for the holster... but will admit I looked at them again, the other day...

A S&W M63, 4” sounds exactly like your looking for as there they are fantastic little holster guns. A Bearcat is another equally fine option, new or old, remember the old alloy ones are only 17oz.
