So I am looking at a 2.25” Taurus 444. I was wondering if anyone had any likes/dislikes with the gun. I’ve got a smith 329 and )9, just want to find something with a shorter barrel for carrying on our place and haven’t had any luck finding a smith night guard. Are aftermarket grips available for the Taurus? I don’t believe I’ve ever owned a Taurus revolver so I’m not familiar with their aftermarket support.
Thanks

Thanks Scope I can't tell you anything about that particular Taurus, however I have been shooting one of the new .357 Magnum Raging Hunter 8-3/8"for the December Cover Feature of GUNS. I have shot it with iron sights and 2x scope, handloads and factory loads, cast bullets and jacketed bullets, 125 grain up to 200 grain bullets. It is without a doubt the single most accurate double action .357 Magnum I have ever shot. This in spite of the 7-1/2" trigger pull and my 80-year-old trigger finger. I can only imagine what a trigger job on this Raging Hunter and placed in the hands of a young guy who could really shoot would happen.

Thanks I have several Taurus revolvers in several different calibers, never had a problem with any of them. Yes the factory grips suck, I replaced all mine with Pachmayr Diamond Pro grips, I believe Houge also makes replacement grips for them. Here is a 4" Tracker in .357 with Pachmayr grips that I often use as a carry gun, and a Raging Bull with the same grips. I believe the Raging series and the 444 are basically the same.

I had a Taurus Tracker.44 Mag, it shot very well, was fun & powerful. It had some chatter marks in the bbl but I gave it a fire lapping & took care of that. I didn't like the ribber grips nor the porting, but lived with it. I traded it for a bow. Wish I'd kept it. It was a nice easy packing 5 shot .44!
PS: Would I buy another? Yes.

Always liked the look of their blue case hardened framed 454 and found one on GB... She shoots good 25 yard groups with the 250gr medium velocity ammo... The trigger needs to be worked on but a real "looker" of a revolver, plus tight cylinder gap and tight lockup.. I like it...
