Hope someone here can help me out. I am buying a Colt Pocket Positive in .32 Police [.32 S&W Long] with a 6" barrel. While fairly knowledgeable on S&Ws, I am not on Colt's! Any info is welcome as there seems to be a dearth of it with my regular internet searches.

I have the snubnose version of that revolver. Great little gun and lots of fun to shoot. Love the 32 S&W anyway and this is a good one to shoot it in. I have never used anything other than cast bullets in all three of my .32s. Know the 6 inch will be fun. I have a 6 inch Smith&Wesson K32 that is extremely accurate

I have a Detective Special in .32 S&W long (.32 New Police) that is a real pleasure to shoot. Reloading will allow you to get the best from this cartridge. Six inch barrel? Must have deep pockets, LOL! It should be a lovely shooter. HKS 32K speedloaders should work with this gun. Is there anything specific that you would like to know?

As a buyer, the biggest thing is to be certain the lockwork is 100% correct and functional. They're hard to adjust without considerable study and experience and the needed NEW parts to repair aren't always available.
Checking out the function of an old Colt DA is a whole writeup in itself, if anyone here knows where to find one already online it'd be a big help.

One thing to know about old DA Colts- the cylinder often doesn't lock fully when the hammer is cocked slowly. This does not necessarily mean the timing is bad. The cylinder often doesn't lock until the trigger is fully pulled because of the way the hand is set up. As long as it does fully lock when the trigger is pulled you are golden. No idea why it was set up that way, but every old Police Positive, Detective Special and Army Special I've ever handled does this.

Thank you for the input Gents. This one falls more into the "Mud Puppy" category, needing some TLC and showing quite a bit of wear in the pictures. Described as a good shooter, we will see when it gets here. I found some grips for it and am very fortunate in having a retired gunsmith as a good friend who will still take care of a couple of us.
