If you hit well with your 315 gr load @ 1300 + fps. That is the load I would use. The Buffalo Bore 45 Colt ammo I've packed in 45 Colts for Bear Protection . Pushed a 325 gr hard cast flat nose @ 1325 fps. It was/is a good load . I've pretty much duplicated it with the Ruger Max , Miha mold in solid form . Pushed by 24 gr H110. Max book load. Its a very good load imho. What specific MiHa bullet are you shooting with 24.0gr of H110?

Miha doesn't have one by that name......... try "Ruger only". A very accurate bullet it is too.

I HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP MY CAST BULLET LOADS UNDER 1,300fps. AT 1,300fps + YOU SEEM TO START TO HAVE BULLET INTEGRITY ISSUES, AND THE FASTER YOU GO THE WORSE THE PROBLEMS.
I MOSTLY SHOOT CAST BULLETS IN MY BELT CARRY OPEN SIGHT REVOLVERS, WHICH ARE USUALLY S&W OR RUGER REVOLVERS WITH 4 INCH - 6.5 INCH BARRELS. THESE ARE THE REVOLVERS I CARRY ALL THE TIME WHEN OUT IN THE FIELD, e.g. UP AT MY RANCH, AT A DEER LEASE, etc., AND THEY WILL KILL ANY TARGET OF OPPORTUNITY I MAY ENCOUNTER, AND ALSO MAKE GOOD FINISHERS, WITH CAST BULLETS GOING UNDER 1,300fps.

I checked the mold last night. It has stamped on it Mihec. 45 RUGER.
I guess I started calling it the Ruger Max. Because it casts the maximum nose length that will fit in a Ruger cylinder.
45 Man; you may well be right. I haven't chronyed my 24 gr load. Recoil is lively but not bad in my Bisley.

24 grs of H110 & the 260 gr Keith from a 452424 mould was the load I used on one cow elk at long range from my old model brass frame 7 1/2" 45. Complete penetration as always. I don't know what it would take to stop one of 325 gr LBT bullet, maybe a lengthways shot! Don't remember the velocity but at 168 yds the 260 gr slug was up to the task on my broad side shot through both lungs. If you're in the 1100-1300 fps range and accuracy is there you will be just fine. The 45 is such a wonderful six gun for hunting!

45Man, bullet integrity all depends on what you have in the alloy, heat treatment status of same and just how it is configured. That's not a complete answer as it depends on what you want it to do which determines what you do to it to do that.

Mihec. 45 RUGER. It was ran as the "Ruger only" (and was titled that on the drawing I sent Miha) on the first GB on CB. 2 Dogs wanted a heavy cylinder length blunter bullet to use on hogs if I remember correctly.
I guess I started calling it the Ruger Max. Because it casts the maximum nose length that will fit in a Ruger cylinder.

So when hunting with cast bullets you look to maximize the damage even with 260 gr Keith , buy going for a dead center shoulder shot? Or behind shoulder?

So when hunting with cast bullets you look to maximize the damage even with 260 gr Keith , buy going for a dead center shoulder shot? Or behind shoulder? That would depend on what you’re hunting. Really large animals have heavy shoulder bones that should probably be avoided. Smaller animals like deer, not so much.

From the 41 magnum on up deer offer very little resistance to a cast bullet, with almost all bullets exiting. An exception might be a very hard bullet at high speed that could possibly break apart on bone. A softer cast bullet or a jacketed bullet will give better results on deer size animals. While the 357 is a good caliber on deer bullet selection is more critical as is shot selection. Never has been my first choice although I've used it. Made a long range kill once with an 8 3/8's S&W using a Sierra 140 gr JHC. I think if I had been using a cast bullet I might have lost that deer.
