The video is confusing at the 2:36 mark. Is he saying the new python will be in the $2500 range or is he going back to the original Python? I'm guessing the latter.
I dunno... I still think an early smith is the better bet, and cheaper for a great specimen, but wouldn't mind giving this revolver a go if the price is right, and the overall walk & talk is solid... I understand the lose-yourself-in-the-deep-blue-mercury-like-bluing days are long gone, but if the latest finish matches the quality and price point, I might be keen. Problem is since the other snakes were revealed all everyone wanted was the Python, so prices will be at a premium, and with possible/likely waits.
We know now that early Colt finishes are long gone with the other two recent snakes, so If I could get a Python in the <$1200 range I might give it some serious thought, but I doubt that'll be the case out of the gate unless you have an early source.
That's my .02

I'll wait until it actually hits the street before I get my hopes up. Colt may not even still be in business by 2020, so there's always that.

I paid $375 for my 70s nickel 4” python with leather belt holster etc back in early 90s. Wish I still had it with the ridiculous prices of today. But love the actions, smooth accurate. Never liked the grip frame, I would round butt one if I had one again. Imo

If the big-deal with the Python is that it's hand fitted and they're going to reproduce the hand-fitted Python, is there target market the people who buy Korth? Skilled hands are very rare these days!
Or, will they just mass produce a revolver, slap "Python" on the side, and sell it to people who will pay $1900 for a Colt badge on a $600 revolver?

Another reason that I want to wait until they actually hit the street before I drink the kool-aid. Colt hasn't had anyone working there that can adequately polish a handgun for decades. Pretty sure it's the same way with hand-fitting a revolver. It would also be very nice if they could actually heat-treat a hand-fitted revolver, even if they can no longer perform a Colt Royal Blue finish.
