I've had this three gun set of TLa guns for over a year now and I debated whether to save them as an investment for the future, sell them or say to heck with it, they were made to shoot and shoot them. I finally decided since they have a hammer and trigger they were made to shoot so off they went to Alan Harton to get the internals checked. They came back today and sometime in the next couple of weeks they will no longer be able to say they are unfired. To heck with it, my kids can fight over what to do with them some day when I'm gone! I'm going to shoot them! In fact, around the first of next month, ALL the TLA guns are going to get dirty and smoky!

I HAVE ONE JUST LIKE YOUR FIRST ONE--.44 SPECIAL. AND THE THIRD ONE HAS FOUR CYLINDERS-.44 MAGNUM, .44 SPECIAL, .44-40, AND .44 RUSSIAN. BILL WAS GOING TO DO A .44 COLT BUT HE PASSED AWAY. THEY GET SHOT!! HUNTED WITH BILL USING THE WEST TEXAS FLAT-TOP TARGET WHEN IT HAD THE FIRST THREE CYLINDERS AND TOOK A CRITTER WITH EACH ONE.

I read that story JT! You were packing extra cylinders in a sock! A big ram that someone else had clipped and if I remember correctly you chased one particular billy for several hours before you caught up to him. I knew you had the WTFTT and the Improved #5 with the Dall sheep grips but I didn't know you had a South Texas Army as well. I wish you were going to be there and you could show me how to shoot these things!

Good for you.....After watching Bill Grover take a deer at LONG range I knew his guns were shooters. Took my #5 in 45 Colt out for deer but never connected but wound up taken a good boar with a 300gr cast handload... After many miles in a holster my TLA is still a good lookin gun...

Robb, Welcome to the world of safe queen abusers! They'll shoot good! Curtis and I need to fly up and help you out! Maybe this time I could figure out the video camera and capture all three going off!
How's is Alan getting along these days?

He’s going much better Tim. He stumbled into a bunch of old Colt parts he is trying to go through while still working but he is back at it in the shop.

I got to shoot friend Glenn Swaggart's TLA but can't remember if it was a 44 or a 45. Fine shooting gun & he took a big cow elk with it. John, you're a tough old cowboy, I'll make you the best Cheesecake you've ever tasted if you show up.

i had Alan build me one from the last serial numbered and marked frame Steve had to sell. basic 44 magnum and had it finished by a good friend who no longer does that work any more. It was my hunting handgun last year and even got rained on a time or two. they make good shooting and hunting guns.
